If you look on the bottle of coral calcium you will see " calcium

carbonate. " The most absorbable forms of calcium are citrate and calcium

citrate malate. The latter can be purchased at GNC stores. It is

recommended you take the tablets at bedtime as that is when calcium is

drawn from the bones if there is not enough in circulation or from other

stores.

Calcium carbonate requires hydrochloric acid in the stomach to be

assimilated. The Ca. citrate-malate does not. A lot of hype out about

coral calcium (beach sand).

In my experience, IT DEPENDS. Not all carbonates are the same. I was taking

what was supposedly a high quality calcium carbonate by KAL, years ago and had a

test done and was shown to be very low in calcium.

Now I take coral calcium which is a form of carbonate and I absorb it very well.

My nails are white and strong and I can feel the difference in my body. When I

was on the KAL product, my nails were almost clear and I didn't notice benefit

from the product.

Some physicians are aware that ANY mineral supplement taken by itself shall

cause problems. Including calcium in

whatever form.

Get your calcium from green leafy vegetables. (salad)

If you cannot absorb it, find out why.
