Guest guest
I wrote the following to the vendor: I've been taking beta-sitosterol sw790. A few days ago (almost thru my 2nd 60 tablet bottle) in flushing the toilet I noticed what looked like a stone of some kind. Upon examination it proved to be one of the above named tabs. When put into vinegar for 3 hrs. the tabs will not dissolve. Twinlabs calcium with D disolve in 3 minutes Their answer: It appears that your body may not produce the amount of digestive enzymes required to break down the beta sitosterol tablets for assimilation. Though several books suggest the " vinegar method " as a means to test a supplement's ability to disintegrate, it isn't an accurate one, as vinegar doesn't approximate hydrochloric acid, a primary digestive enzyme. The best illustration I can think of is my grandma's coleslaw. Her grated cabbage sat for days in vinegar, soaking up the pungent, wine-flavored liquid, yet it never digested in the bowl. Calcium tablets will break down in vinegar because this mineral is an antacid. Its alkaline properties quickly neutalize vinegar, which is slightly acidic on the ph scale (about a 5). They went on to suggest a digestive aid product. What do you think? ron .. _____________ Get the FREE email that has everyone talking at http://www.mail2world.com
Guest guest
Hi Frank, I got it from Swanson's. I'm going to ask them why I can digest cabbage but their tablet passes unscathed. I just don't know. ron _____________ Get the FREE email that has everyone talking at http://www.mail2world.com <> > > Frank > 10/31/2001 7:17:34 PM > Gettingwell > Re: passing beta sitosterol > > Dear Desert rat, > > May I ask where you bought the beta-sitosterol from? > > I think I know but, Was it Dr. Joncat??? > > thanks, Frank > > --- the desert_rat wrote: > > I wrote the following to the vendor: > > I've been taking beta-sitosterol sw790. Guest guest
Dear Ron, I would think that no matter what, that it should dissolve in water in much less than an hour. No, the folksy answer that they gave you, threw me for a minute. Does'nt sound like the answer of a good sized company. cabbage?? Is it Swanson's brand? They have been very reliable for a lot of years. I would think that they would want to know if something wasn't right so they could fix it. kind regaards, Frank Gettingwell, " the desert_rat " <ron@m...> wrote: > Hi Frank, > I got it from Swanson's. > I'm going to ask them why I can digest cabbage but their > tablet passes unscathed. Guest guest
My thinking too, Frank. Yes it is the Swanson label & my latest to them has not had a reply as yet. I'm gonna persist. Latest: I appreciate the info. & analogy but still do not understand why I digest cabbage ( & apparently everything else) but the beta sitosterol escapes unscathed. Thanks, Ron _____________ Get the FREE email that has everyone talking at http://www.mail2world.com <> > > califpacific > 11/1/2001 1:38:50 PM > Gettingwell > Re: passing beta sitosterol > > Dear Ron, > > I would think that no matter what, that it should dissolve in water in > much less than an hour. > > No, the folksy answer that they gave you, threw me for a minute. > > Does'nt sound like the answer of a good sized company. cabbage?? > > > Is it Swanson's brand? > They have been very reliable for a lot of years. > I would think that they would want to know if something wasn't right > so they could fix it. > > kind regaards, > Frank > > > > > Gettingwell, " the desert_rat " wrote: > > Hi Frank, > > I got it from Swanson's. > > I'm going to ask them why I can digest cabbage but their > > tablet passes unscathed.
