Guest guest
lifeextension(Life Extension) August 5, 2008 High dose vitamin C injections slash tumor growth in mice An article published in the August 5, 2008, issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences reported that injections of ascorbate (vitamin C) reduce the weight and growth rate of tumors by half in mouse models of ovarian, pancreatic and brain cancer, while leaving normal cells unharmed. Researchers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) tested ascorbate in 43 tumor and 5 normal cell lines to determine a concentration that decreases cell survival in cancerous cells without resulting in toxicity to healthy cells. They subsequently injected a dose of 4 grams ascorbate (neutralized with sodium hydroxide) per kilogram body weight once or twice per day into immune-deficient mice with implanted ovarian, pancreatic and glioblastoma (brain) tumors. " At these high injected doses, we hoped to see drug-like activity that might be useful in cancer, " explained lead author Mark Levine, MD, who is the chief of the Molecular and Clinical Nutrition Section of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases at the NIH. Dr Levine's team found that injecting the animals with ascorbate decreased tumor growth and weight by 41 to 53 percent. While metastases occurred in 30 percent of the mice with brain tumors, none appeared in animals injected with vitamin C. No adverse effects of vitamin C treatment were noted. Guest guest
I won't caution anyone against IV Vit c, but I was lead to believe that the iv mega doses would cure my vitamin c. I did 90,000 mg and up each day for months and did not get such great results against my hepatitis c. I was told by one of the nurses at one of those well known Docs, -can't remember which- that I must have permanent damage, and that is why it did not work. I did get relief from most symptoms, but got darker circles under my eyes; I think thats a sign of toxicity. My guess is that the c is a synthetic that the liver needs to process. Maybe my particular liver could not handle it. I dunno. After I weaned off the iv c, I still kept up my intake orally; I eventually noticed a spot on my nose that was turning clay colored, and well as a spot of my cheek; these areas are said to be indicative of liver cancer, according to face reading (if you put much stock in that (macrobiotic). I then turned to mms; the spots began to recede. I mistrakenly slacked off the c. Did too much mms; then learned to balance the 2. Nowadays, I am eating 1/2-3/4 watermelon a day; getting very good results; eat the melon; jump on a rebounder; chi machine, inversion table; - I get a deeper, good color complexion; I take this to mean the melon is working on the vascular system, and if so, it is opening up the vascular and also delivering c to the bloodstream. For that matter, I suppose it would enhance absorption of the OS. Also notice my breathing is deeper and easier. I could show anyone how to do the ivs if they want to come to the DC area. --- On Tue, 8/5/08, Maritza Vlasaty <mvlasaty wrote: Maritza Vlasaty <mvlasatyRe: High dose vitamin C injections slash tumor growth in miceoleander soup Date: Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 10:00 AM now where can we find a doctor willing to give or prescribe the injections? Guest guest
I remember seeing Linus Pauling on a talk show and stating that he wished he had known about vitamin C when his wife was dying from cancer, he felt it would have helped her immensely. Guest guest
I'd be very cautious about injected or IV vitamin C. Despite some positive reports, it might not be a good idea. My wife had 10 sessions of IV C at 50 grams per session. The results were an increase in rate of tumor growth. This was easily perceived as she has some tumors right under the skin. The C seemed to act as a nutrient, promoting tumor growth. This experience is similar to what others have seen. Sometimes, I've been told, a much higher dose (75 to 100 grams) seems to turn it around again and starts to destroy the cells. My wife could barely tolerate the 50 gram dose, so I would not put her through this.MikeMaracuja <howdurdagooleander soup Sent: Wednesday, August 6, 2008 3:44:13 AMRe: High dose vitamin C injections slash tumor growth in micehttp://www.lef.'>http://www.lef. org/newsletter/ 2008/0805_ High-Dose- Vitamin-C- Injections- Slash-Tumor- Growth-in- Mice.htmPerhaps you could contact LEF. Guest guest
She had a lot of discomfort from the IV process. Her veins are very difficult to work with. She felt tired and ill during the IVs and also between them. On three of the visits she had seizures due to the pain. She is prone to seizures from strong sensory input. Most people would not have all her side effects.MikeMaritza Vlasaty <mvlasatyoleander soup Sent: Wednesday, August 6, 2008 2:22:38 PMRe: High dose vitamin C injections slash tumor growth in mice Thanks Mike,That is scary. Guest guest
Many have used it over the past decades. I was particularly impressed with the work of Dr Archie Kalokerinos among Aboriginal families - I first read Every Second Child in 1985, 10 years after one of my children was brain-injured by his first vaccine. He outlived the drs' prognostications, in fact he outlived the drs! I'd say that sodium ascorbate probably saved his life. He hasn't had an antibiotic since 1983, never had painkillers, anti-inflammatory drugs, steroids or anti-convulsive drugs, but all have been suggested often over the years. I'm so glad for the existence of this book! The definitive Vitamin C book by Dr. Archie KalokerinosDr. Glen Dettman and Dr. Ian Dettman is worth more than a cursory glance. Vit. C will never be used as an anti-cancer protocol as it isn't patentable and the pharma industry will lose billions over time. Cheers.
