Guest guest
[From the Blaylock Wellness Letter] Blaylock Tip of the Week Fight Cancer with Fats and Vegetables Did you know that cancers seem to occur commonly in husbands and wives? That is, when the wife has breast cancer, the husband is much more likely to develop prostate cancer and vice versa. The reason is a mystery, but there are several possibilities to explain this anomaly. The most common explanation is that they eat similar types of foods known to increase the risk of both cancers. It may be that both cancers are caused by the same cancer-causing virus (oncogenic virus), or that both are exposed to a common household toxin or pesticide. Or it may simply be that both cancers increase dramatically with aging. There is a common denominator in dozens of studies: There is a very strong correlation between breast cancer and nutrition. While good nutrition is a powerful ally, bad nutrition not only strongly promotes the development of both cancers, it also determines your chances of survival. Many people make the mistake of depending on a single nutritional supplement (usually one recently made popular by the media) rather than changing their diet. If you are in a particularly high-risk group, including having a close relative who had one of these cancers, then it is imperative that you stick to a healthy anti-cancer diet. If you ignore the benefits of supplements, you do so at your own peril; they add an essential layer of protection to a good diet. Supplements . . . act to specifically inhibit enzymes or other mechanisms needed by cancer cells either to develop or to grow and invade your body. Fats and vegetables both have the power to fight cancer, but some are much more effective than others. These fats are packed with cancer-fighting properties: Omega-3 Fats: These are fats found in fish, algae, and flaxseed, but omega-3 fats from flaxseed should be avoided, since humans cannot convert them properly and they can, in fact, be harmful. The most powerful form of omega-3 oil is its DHA component, which inhibits cancer in a number of ways. Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA): This is a special type of fat that reduces inflammation, lowers breast cancer development, and melts visceral fat. Gamma-Linoleic Acid (GLA): This is another potent anti-cancer oil, extracted from evening primrose or borage plants. Studies have shown that it not only prevents breast cancer, it suppresses the growth of existing breast cancers. It can also enhance the effectiveness of tamoxifen against breast cancer. The best vegetables to prevent and treat cancer include: Broccoli (especially broccoli sprouts) Brussels sprouts Chinese cabbage Celery Turnip greens Spinach Kale Parsley
Guest guest
Interesting article however, I have heard/read and been told nothing but positive things about flaxseed for cancer. It has helped me tremendously to balance my estrogen levels. Anyone else have any comments about this article? Guest guest
Another factor in spouse being diagnosed with cancer after partner has cancer is the stress, worry, and loneliness absorbed by the person taking care of the first one to get sick. When I was seven my friendly neighborhood handyman died of cancer. My grandmother sent me over with a pie. The widow told me how she missed him and didn't want to go on. In a few months she had cancer and soon died.
Guest guest
OMG what a very sad story that is. Makes sense though stress can do really horrible things to one and state of mind comes to mind also. Bonnie & CodyVote for your city's best dining and nightlife. City's Best 2008. Guest guest
Tammatha, I too am astounded and appalled that Blaylock so blithely states that flax seed is indigestible and useless. The Budwig program uses it extensively. It's been very well tested. Many studies to verify flax seed's usefulness. In fact, whole flax seed is better utilized than breaking it down to component parts, as Blaylock suggests. Also, MUCH less expensive Rhoda Blaylock said, " omega-3 fats from flaxseed should be avoided, since humans cannot convert them properly and they can, in fact, be harmful. Guest guest
Elaine Hollingsworth and Dr. Mercola, among others, are down on flax oil too. So this Blaylock guy is not the only one.--- On Wed, 6/18/08, Tammatha <tammatha wrote: Tammatha <tammathaRe: Re:Blaylock Tip: Fight Cancer with Fats and Vegetablesoleander soup Date: Wednesday, June 18, 2008, 1:28 AM Yes, your are right Rhoda, as I have said before it has helped me with estrogen dominance (via my bloodwork there is proof). I put two tablespoons of fresh ground flaxseed in my green smoothie everyday. I just don't get how he can make these statements.
