Guest guest
From my own meager book: Heartburn • You'll need to find a carpeted area for this heartburn remedy called a heel drop. This sounds strange, but it works. Roll up onto your toes as high as you can, and then allow your heels to quickly drop down onto the ground. Repeat this 20 to 30 times, holding onto the back of a chair for balance if you need to. The downward motion pulls the acid that causes heartburn back into your stomach. • Take one piece of Clove and suck on it slowly. This should give you relief from acidity and also help in reducing the onslaught of diseases arising out of acidity. • Eat a cup of vanilla ice cream or drink a glass of cold milk to get heartburn and acidity relief within minutes • Apple Cider Vinegar It sounds wrong, but Vinegar can actually help heartburn, as heartburn is sometimes caused by a LACK of stomach acid. As we age, our stomachs produce less acid over time - and that causes the same symptoms as too much acid. So sometimes anti-acids only make the situation worse since we are medicating with a substance that allows our stomachs to produce even less acid. Vinegar to the rescue! The acid in vinegar will help digest your food, and over a period of time, alleviate heartburn if yours is caused by a lack of stomach acid. • Papaya. Particularly good if you have ulcers and cannot tolerate citrus, vinegar or spicy substances. Use natural papaya or natural papaya juice. • Lemons. Can prevent heartburn. Cut a lemon into thin strips and dip in salt. Eat before meals to prevent heartburn. • Lemon rind can also be eaten to prevent heartburn. • Saltine crackers. Eat anywhere from two to six saltines when symptoms begin. Drink a little water afterwards and symptoms should go away quickly. Pretzels also work. • Mustard. Take one teaspoon by itself. If necessary, repeat a second time. Works wonders! • Almonds. Can relieve heartburn. Eat several almonds when heartburn symptoms persist. • Bananas. Eat a banana slowly. • Other effective remedies include raw potatoes, pineapple or pineapple juice, raw ginger or ginger tablets, baking soda and water, and root beer. Peppermint is an over-rated remedy for most people. oleander soup , robert-blau wrote: > > Natural Remedies for Heartburn > > Heartburn affects an estimated 20 percent of people at least once a > week. Guest guest
I learned the flat foot landing from Dr. Jack Horton (deceased) of Kerrville, TX. The idea is the shock is supposed to drop the top of the stomach back through the the herniation in the diaphragm (hiatial hernia). That and manual manipulation both work to some extent. Heatburn occurs because of a hiatal hernia, a weakening of the diaphragm as the esophagus passes through to become the stomach. Overeating, particularly followed by immediately reclining after the meal will potentiate the hernia. When gastric acid is too weak, you can then produce really bad heartburn. The food sits in the stomach way too long waiting to be digested. Some fermentation and putrefaction occurs. Gases are evolved in the process and create a pressure within the stomach. Over 20 feet of intestines await at the pyloric sphincter, while only a couple of feet of open alimentary tubing lie above the cardiac sphincter. Thus, it is that the gas (and some gastric liquids and partially digested stomach cotents) gets expelled upward into the esophagus. Antacids are not the problem. You also do not suffer from a Nexium deficency. If the damage has been done by the reflux over a period of time, you may need Nexium or steroids for a short period to calm and heal some damege (ulceration in the esophagus). After that short time, they should be discontinued. Buy some strong digestive enzymes. Get some with ox bile in them. (I use 4 Standard Process Zypan tablets.) This ends the heartburn in 30-60 minutes, finishes digesting the food, and gives you the benefit of the food, instead of undigested food (antacid result) passing out the anal ring. The Zypan has worked every time for me since I discovered it about a year agoe. I am not advertising Zypan! However, you must have some good, strong digestive enzyme capsules or tablets, and some fat digesting enzymes must be included. The time proven ingredient is ox bile. Happy gorging (in moderation, of course!) Dr. Goebel --- Tony wrote: > From my own meager book: > > Heartburn > > • You'll need to find a carpeted area for this heartburn remedy > called a heel drop.
