Guest guest
Hi Betsy and all, I personally haven't noticed this. I still need to run cold water/chew gum while cutting up an onion as they burn my eyes and make me " cry " I do think that some onions are stronger than others in this type of reaction. I find that the purple onions and the sweet onions are easier to deal with. Sincerely, Karri In a message dated 9/13/2007 7:56:13 A.M. I haven't had an onion make me cry for at least five years that I can recall. Either something is wrong with me or our food supply, specifically produce has been altered. This may sound silly but I am seriously concerned that our fresh fruits and vegetables are being tampered with in a terrible and nefarious way (genetically engineered?) and maybe it would pay to be very careful about where we buy produce. Anybody else notice this? Guest guest
I have no problems with sweet whites, vidallia, or reds, but yellow spanish to me, at least, are stronger than ever. They are to the point I will no longer purchase them because there is just too much eye aggrivation coming from them. By the way, if you will " saw " your onions and not just chop through them, the amount of juice released is much less and much less potential for burning the eyes.
