The Power of Your Smile It’s been shown that laughter is

healthful, and let’s look at this: Simply putting a smile on your

face has a therapeutic value. It need not be backed by a positive,

happy attitude – it can be a “forced†mechanical smile.

John Diamond, MD, did a lot of work in kinesiology. He wrote

" Your Body Doesn't Lie " - published by Warner Communications - I

wrote the Forward to the book. He found that smiling stimulated

acupuncture points that had the effect of balancing the activity

between the two brain hemispheres. Usually, people have dominance

in one or the other cerebral hemisphere, but when there's energy

balance between the two, one's resistive capacity is increased. He

claims that one's balance and 'creativity' is amplified . . . and so

is one's immune system, etc.

In our dental practice, even when we treated lower teeth, we put

cotton rolls adjacent to the upper molars to actually stimulate these

acupuncture-sensitive points - to give patients feelings of

calmness. It worked nicely!
