This is it. In the coming days, the US House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on the 2007 Farm Bill, one of the most important pieces of conservation legislation that Congress will vote on this decade. We need your help to urge Congress to support the Fairness in Farm and Food Policy Amendment that will promote conservation and healthy food choices. Send an email to your Member of Congress today: http://action.environmentaldefense.org/campaign/farmbill_house_action/w7ge6ibr1d\ dxt3b? America's farmers, ranchers and forest landowners produce an extraordinary bounty of food, energy and fiber - as well as clean air, clean water and habitat for wildlife. But, our farm and food policies could do much more to meet the needs of farmers, consumers, communities, and the environment. In fact, we lose 2 acres of farmland every minute! Current farm policies are misplaced. Taxpayers spend as much as $20 billion annually to subsidize only a few farmers. Crop subsidies damage the environment by placing pressure on sensitive lands such as wetlands and native grasslands. The Fairness in Farm and Food Policy Amendment would better reward farmers for conservation practices, increase assistance to hungry Americans, provide consumers with more food and energy choices, and stop sprawl. Take action! Ask your Representative to vote in favor of real reform of the 2007 Farm Bill when it comes before the US House of Representatives in the coming days. Thank you, Robert Bonnie Co-Director, Land, Water and Wildlife Program Environmental Defense
