Guest guest
Red meat gets too much of a bad rap. I base my diet more on Kosher dictates. I stopped eating shell fish and pork. Then I found out from Sam Rogers at the San Antonio Wellness Institue that there is an inflammatory index for foods. Those in the Bible have an index of 100 or less. Pork is at 800. Turkey 400. Chicken 200-400. Shellfish over 1600. The kicker: Canola (genetically modified rapeseed oil) 100,000 on the inflammatory index. I'll stick w/ red meat and fish with fins and scales, thank you. The Romans preserved in the aftermath of the Vesuvius eruption which destroyed Pompeii and Herculaneum, showed people with no cavaties in the teeth. It is well know their fruit, cheese, and mutton consumption was high. The Roman army ran on its bread. However, its bread was nothing like any of the bread we have today. There was no finely ground (whole wheat or barley) flour; it was all very rough cut stone ground wheat and barley. We would not call it flour, but instead probably call it " craked wheat " . No dental or obesity problems from this food! So, I also cut out all bakery goods, potatoes, and rice (yes, even brown). My diet is mainy meats, fish, beans, squashes, raw greens, and some fresh whole fruit. I also eat a 3/4 " length from a bar of butter on my beans. I lost 30 pounds in 4 months on this diet, with no exercise change. No matter what new good information you find, always keep investigating. Better information regularly becomes available. Guest guest
Some people cannot eat gluten at all but have to rely on other forms of bread substitute, Also Red meat, for those with O neg blood, in moderation is good. I was raised a vegetarian but the Homeade, wheat we ground ourselves, was what was doing me in plus the other things like beans. etc. I can eat kidney beans and some lentils...My natural doctor switched me to more meat and I have done a lot better. We did drink whole juices oranges, as we had plenty growing, but also carrot and apple which is good. One has to always remember we are individuals and what works for many does not work for others.Staying away from fruit juices, except occasionally, is good as long as you make them yourself. They are heavy in sugar even if natural, applies also to bananas. Frozen Orange juice is full of fungus. I no longer eat store purchased beef but we have home raised. The next switch will be chicken to home raised or natural. The fish is so suspect anymore one cannot even imagine. I believe a good balanced diet, taken in moderation, with small frequent meals, is as good as anything. Helps the digestion and it does not have to work has hard.Janicerobert-blau wrote: Courtesy of a friend of mine . . . carolleem (Carol Lee Myers) Sat, Jun 2, 2007, 10:46am (CDT+1) robert-blau (AT) webtv (DOT) net (Robert Blau) Re: Must-see TV Yeah, fiber*s a a big part of the answer. You*ve gotta throw out the white bread and basically anything made with white enriched flour. That gets you well on your way. Then buy a bread machine and start experimenting with whole wheat and white whole wheat flour. Use brown rice, learn about millet and quinoa and other whole grains that we totally ignore as a culture. And cut out the red meat. No fiber at all there. Switch to legumes. Use Beano as a digestive aid if your body can*t handle them without...hmmmm...blowback? Don*t drink juice, eat the whole fruit. This is actually a pretty painless way to diet, because you don*t have to go hungry at all. Of course, you can*t buy most off-the-shelf, already-prepared foods, and you end up cooking more of your own food, which is also good for you. Guest guest
Great Info. One of my favorite diet books is The Maker's Diet. I am afraid to ask you what the index is for channel catfish. And I still like organic free ranging Turkey and Chicken not subject to feedlot practices in small amounts. One thing about virtually any meat, it stay in the digestive tract much longer than fruits and vegetables, especially beef - which I also like in small portions if it is organic grass fed beef which has not been subjected to feed lot practices. The site of Celtic Sea Salt http://www.celticseasalt.com also has Natural Bridge Bread, Smelt Bread and the best tasting safe natural sweetener I know of - Lo Han. I see that they also have a blue agave sweetener. I like blue agave, but have always consumed it in a fermented form :- ) oleander soup , Michael Goebel <goebelchx wrote: > > Red meat gets too much of a bad rap. Guest guest
Coconut oil's ok - I tried taking a spoonful, but gagged on it solid, but I'm now keeping the bottle on the radiator so it's liquid and I can take a swig quite happily that way. The only way I can take it solid is to use it as a replacemeent for butter as long as something goes on top of it. I used to use it for my old lady dog who had bad colitis - when her gut was bad, a dessertspoonful melted on her food helped solidify her again. Didn't work for the next dog though. oleander soup , May <luellamay129 wrote: > > Hmmmmm..... You know, I have never tried coconut oil. And I have never heard of palm oil.
