I wonder if anyone has any tips on how to prevent or at least minimize

stretch marks when my pregnant tummy starts to get big? I've bought

Burts Bees cream for pregnant tummies, but read that creams wont

really help. I've heard there might be exercises that help.

Also, I've read that its a bad idea to do situps while you are

pregnant, but the same book also said that I should do some ab

strengthening exercises to help in labor. What other ab exercises do

you suggest?

You might laugh but I always used pure vegetable shortening because I could

not afford creams. I have had 7 children and my stretch marks are barely

noticeable.. Walking is actually a great exercise for pregnant women. In fact I

was walking when I started into labor with my first child. Not ever having

ever had labor pains before, I did not realize what was happening. I would just

stop walking whenever one would come and then continue my walk. It was an

older woman observing me that told me I should get to a hospital. I did not

believe I was in labor but at her urging, I did go to get myself checked out. I

had my first baby 2 hours after that. I thought I was just having a stitch in

my side from walking with such a heavy stomach.

If I knew what I know now, I would use self heal cream, (Prunella herb) It

is a wonderful cream and does more than just moisturize.

peace, thyme
