Guest guest
Moderator's Note: Well said.. And I think this is the note we should end our discussion regarding the structure of government on.. Misty -------------- It would indeed be terrible confusing if every citizen had to cast a vote for every piece of legislation; however, what has happened in our system of goverment is that the huge lobbies and special interest groups are able to buy the ears, if not the outright votes, of those who do cast votes and so we see legislation passed and agencies created (such as the FDA) which serve the monied interests more than the common man. The initial choice of elected officials is naturally very important. Even more important will be finding a way to keep them from being corrupted from the constant lure of the money and favors constantly available from special interest and lobbies, while Joe Average Ciitizen remains back home and in the background. No where is this conflict of service greater than in the area of natural medicine versus " approved " medicine. Many of us know for absolute certain that there are natural alternatives that are cheaper, safer and more effective than the approved drugs and treatments (think chemo and radiation) patients are steered into using because of this system. The pharmaceutical industry is a trillion dollar a year goliath with a history of misuse of power and disregard for patients for the sake of greed, and their only marketplace is our bodies. Safer, less expensive natural alternatives represent a huge threat to their profit, the same as drugs that actually cure anything instead of treat symptoms and have side-effects that lead to still more drugs. Despite a lot of lip service about finally paying attention to diet, nutrition and natural supplements and alternatives (the very thing that the pharmaceutical empire has spent millions on surplanting with their lab created patented medications for generations), history tells us a different story. The only interest the pharmaceutical giants have in natural alternatives they cannot readily patent and control is to gain control by other means, such as the codex alimentarius and other legislation around the world. Once they gain control, you can expect to see the natural alternative standardized to the point of being worthless and see access to natural alternatives highly restricted. In other words, the same game plan tha has worked so well for almost 100 years. , " Bruce Guilmette, Ph.D. " <bruce wrote: > > There are a number of different forms of government throughout the world > including thocracies, dictatorships, monarchies, democracies, and republics. > We indeed live in a republic.
