Guest guest
Well, actually, the person I was quoting about " for the children " was a Simpsons character, so I think you might have taken that one a little too seriously. I also dont think that cartoon character ever said it about the HPV vaccine, although in all fairness I haven't been watching much of this season. I didn't say anything about whether or not I agree with mandetory vaccinations. All I'm saying is that we should try to look at the people who's lives this vaccine could affect, and not at corporate profits and religious ideaology. Its not right that these subjects are of bigger concern to us than lives of young women are. The connection between HIV and cervical cancer is not a new idea, by the way. I was informed of it the first time I ever went into a Planned Parenthood, nearly 10 years ago. To be honest, I don't remember being shocked, and its quite possible that I learned that in sexual education class in the 7th grade. The fact that there are so many women out there who didn't know this horrifies me. Before we get any vaccines, or for that matter, before we start bickering about vaccines, I suggest we start learning more about how our bodies actually work. One thing I don't like about the vaccine hype is that they make it sound like HPV is the only cause of cervical cancer. It is not. But having HPV is likely to dramatically increase your chances of getting cervical cancer. In case any one else doesn't know what HPV is, it is also known as Genital Warts. As Helen Lovejoy has so accurately put it so many times, " Won't somebody please think of the Children?!?! "
