Guest guest
I hate articles like this because I get so confused. I'm doing my best to eat healthy and then articles come out that make it sound like I am causing my own death. Then again, after breast feeding all of my children, news came out (sometime in the 70's or 80's) that breastmilk caused cancer. I think there is good and bad in every food, it is moderation and not overindulgence in a single food. " Misty L. Trepke " <mistytrepke wrote: Comments? Misty L. Trepke http://health. The DARK Side Of Soy - America's Favorite 'Health' Food By Kaayla T. Daniel 2-26-7 http://rense.com/general75/fav.htm Over the past decade, soy foods have become America's favorite health food. Newspapers, magazines, and best-selling health writers have proclaimed the " joy of soy " and promoted the belief that soy food is the key to disease prevention and maximum longevity. The possibility that an inexpensive plant food could prevent heart disease, fight cancer, fan away hot flashes, and build strong bodies in far more than 12 ways is seductive. The truth, unfortunately, is far more complex. Soy foods come in a variety of forms, including many heavily processed modern products. Even good forms of soy foods must be eaten sparingly-the way they have been eaten traditionally in Asia. Most important, many respected scientists have issued warnings stating that the possible benefits of eating soy should be weighed against the proven risks. Indeed, thousands of studies link soy to malnutrition, digestive distress, immune-system breakdown, thyroid dysfunction, cognitive decline, reproductive disorders and infertility-even cancer and heart disease. Guest guest
There is a great deal of controversy over soy. It does have estrogen, but is of a type not similar to what is in the human body and in theory blocks the production of human estrogens that feed cancer. However, there are so many conflicting reports, that I personally just stay away from it. If you look long enough and hard enough, there will be a report out there somewhere that says no matter what you eat and no matter how you prepare it, it is bad for you. Simple rule of thumb, 90% plant based diet, 10% protein and life will be pretty good. Stay away from pork as it takes from 4 to 6 times as long to digest as any other protein. Stay away from bleached foods such as sugar and white flour. Don't drink soda pop as it is highly acidic (phosphoric acid) and can significantly alter your ph levels. If you want the most value out of the food you eat, juice a wide variety of vegetables at least 5 times a week. Do not subsititute supplements for proper nutrition. Most of all, use some common sense. The typical American diet consists today of 4 basic food groups: hamburgers, french fries, tacos, and pizza. Do not over-indulge in these and you will go a long way to being healthy. No diet, no matter what it consists of, is a guarantee you will never get sick. I work with terminal cancer people every single day and at least a quarter of them are vegans with much stricter diets than I would ever do myself and they still got cancer.
