Guest guest
My take on Bananas When we buy bananas at any market, they are green. They're picked very hard and green in the tropics, so they don't get bruised in shipment. One of the topics that is not brought up hardly ever is that we can't get tree ripened anything at our markets. Have you ever tasted a tree ripened banana? Awesome! Talk about sweet. I've bought peaches along the highway in South Carolina from a local farmer's stand who just picked them off the tree and wow are they awesomely sweet! They were picked ripe from the tree. Not this hard peach fruit with shades of green in it that turns to mush in a week and never gets that sweet taste. No comparison in taste between fruit picked properly and the hard green stuff in the market. Most consumers have never eaten a real banana or peach. They wouldn't have a clue as to how good they can taste. My point is that I don't think that bananas and peaches and all other fruit that is not properly ripened on the tree has the proper amount of vitamins and nutrients to even be worth eating. The taste being so bad is an indication of lack of nutrients. When is some research going to be done on how much difference the content of vitamins and nutrients is between green fruit and tree ripened fruit? I'm waiting! I realize that their argument is that they can't ship it if it is already ripened. However, why even bother shipping and eating it if it is not nutritious? We are probably wasting our time eating this crap fruit in the market. Enough said.
