I watched C-span today, where the House was discussing CAFTA. Throughout the testimony of Rep after Rep, it was clear to me, that Republicans noticeably favored CAFTA over Democrats. What was consistent throughout, however, was that CODEX wasn't mentioned once. Proponents kept talking about how wonderful trade relations would be under CAFTA. As I looked at these Reps, it became depressingly obvious (to me, at least), that most, if not nearly all of these politicians didn't have the faintest idea what CODEX was, let alone how important it was to the citizenry of our nation. These Reps were going to decide on CAFTA based on their opinions regarding these complex money agreements, without a moment of concern for CODEX.

It's infuriating that a matter of such immense importance, can be secreted into an essentially unrelated bill, so as to slyly force CODEX on the American people, through the votes of politicians that, if anything, know less about the nutrtional dimension, than most Americans. I can't see what we can do about this outrage.
