Today's Tip

Carpet Freshener

To freshen carpets, use 25 drops of essential oil such as lavender,

cinnamon, rosewood, or sweet orange to 2 cups of borax. Blend well,

making sure all oil is blended well and evenly distributed. Place in

shaker can and apply to carpet or rug. Let sit for 10 min and vacuum

as usual.

Enjoy!

Borax! One of my household favorites! Seems to me I read somewhere that

this borax carpet freshener would also repel fleas, especially with a

pest-repellent EO (mint is a great all-purpose repellent). You can also mix

borax 1:1 with white sugar and sprinkle it where you have ant problems - the

ants take the borax-contaminated sugar back to the hill where it eventually

poisons them. I've also used borax as a repellent under shared walls to

keep ants from coming in from the other side - I packed the little crevices

with it and no more came through.

Thanks for the tip! I often forget that I can do this type of thing and

enjoy my housework just a little more.
