Guest guest
It really happened - and it made a point! Flashback: It was in the '60s, and I was using Audio Analgesia for my patients. It uses earphones with music & white sound to stop pain. I worked with the Ritter and Norelco companies on it. DDSs claimed I was using hypnosis. I went to Manhattan General Hospital - took courses in hypnosis - joined the Hypnodontic Soc. AA is far more than hypnosis. I was invited to speak across the country about AA, - wrote several articles on it for journals. I used it until I gave up my practice in '83. Patients loved it! Point: One day I got a phone call from the president of the local dental society telling me to " --get off the Audio Anal-gesia bandwagon, because it's not fair to other dentists! " It really happened! That call dampened my respect for organized dentistry - and its aims.. Today: How does this figure in our attempts to stop the use of mercury in the mouths of kids? DDSs insist that the mercury is locked into the fillings, when it can easily be demonstrated that the mercury fumes off into the mouth!
