Guest guest
Let's take a comment such as " Too much meat is bad. " Behind that five word sentence is a sea of idea which might take a book to describe. I think whenever we think we have understood a person's comment, we should always remember that words are a clumsy form of communication. The picture that the speaker is trying to convey might be very different from the picture the listener is receiving. If we just remember that and ask for clarification rather than refusing to listen further, it might lead to greater understanding. If a person has to walk on eggs (be very careful about everything they say--not actually walk on eggs) everytime they open their mouth, you end up with a society of people afraid to say anything. People's perceptions are just different viewpoints. It can be very interesting to explore why different people see things the way they do.
