Winter Detoxification

Hello,

I am very interested in trying Winter Detoxification. I am a little

confused on the proper way to do this. Would eating fresh

fruits and vegetables and drinking lots of water for a week or two be what I

would

need to do?

If so, does anyone have any suggestions as to what would be

a good dressing on a green salad? I have seen people squeeze

a fresh lemon on their salad, and have considered trying that, but

does anyone know of fruits/vegetables to blend that could be poured

over a salad for a dressing? Avocado? Also, something similar blended to

use on baked potatoes or any other toppings that might make it

less dry and more palatable?

Thank you very much for any ideas, suggestions or recipes that might

make this Winter Detoxification process easier. Also would green tea

be an acceptable part of a Detoxification process?

Sincerely,

Karri

I must politely disagree with the person who wrote this article, on one

particular issue. I think overall the reccomendations made by the individual

are

good, although I would suggest a slightly different, what I feel to be a more

effective, program.Nevertheless, it is good, however Vitamin C is not the

cheapest way to raise glutathione levels. In fact without glutathione Vitamin

C in the body would not be effective, as Vitamins C and E, two very important

immune system vitamins, must have glutathione to be activated. Without

Glutathione they would not work in the body. Glutathione is a sulfahydryl(-SH)

antioxidant, antitoxin, and enzyme cofactor. There are actually two forms of

glutatione.one called reduced glutathione which is abreviated GSH and

glutathione

disulfide abreviated GSSH. without going into detail the ratio of these two

in the body is very important. A healthy cell should not have more than 10

percent or GSSH. Less then that and apoptosis is triggered. Glutathione is a

chain of three amino acids glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine. The body

will manufacture glutathione from whole carbohydrate foods. The best foods to

eat to manufacture GSH are bananas, whole grains(wheatgrass juice is awesome

for this so is barley green) artichokes, and chicory are the best sources.

Taking milk thistle which I do daily, and there is not danger of taking too

much

is the best way to raise glutathione levels, you can increase your levels by

as much as 35 percent!! It actually helps to repair the liver and promote

the growth of healthy cells. Remember the liver is the only organ in the body

that can regenerate itself.

Good Morning!

Winter Detoxification

Do you have low energy? Having digestive problems? Feel constipated?

Have food cravings? You may need to help your body along with a week

of detoxification. A one to two week nutritional diet can reduce the

risk of chronic disease, but it also has immediate benefits: improved

vitality and stamina, better digestion, mental clarity and focus, a

feeling of calm and decreased allergic symptoms. It does not involve

starvation or require eating strange foods, but emphasizes fresh,

simply prepared foods that are easy on the body -- to digest, absorb

and eliminate -- and minimizes toxins and allergenic foods.

The start of Winter is a great reminder to consider a healthy detox.

It is a good idea to detox your system four times a year and the

beginning of each new season is a good time to do this.

Detoxification is a process that occurs within our bodies on a

continual basis. With all the medications, refined foods, additives,

alcohol, pesticides and other chemicals we are exposed to in the

environment, our ability to adapt and detoxify can become

overwhelmed.

Fasting is one of the fastest ways to increase elimination of wastes

and enhance the healing process of the body.

Eating a diet that focuses on fresh vegetables and fruits, whole

grains, legumes, nuts and seeds are extremely important. Adopt a

healthy lifestyle including regular exercise and avoiding drugs and

alcohol. Taking a high potency multiple vitamin and mineral

supplement. Nutritional and herbal supplements to protect and enhance

liver function.

Triphala is a traditional Ayurvedic Indian herbal compound used for

constipation and poor bowel tone and is designed to support the

body's natural cleansing process. It is one of Ayurveda's most

important herbal formulas for thousands of years. Triphala is a

balanced blend of three Indian Herbal Fruits: Harada, Amla, Behada.

This combination of fruits is unique because the astringent qualities

of the fruits serve to tonify the colon therefore promoting internal

cleansing naturally. This is highly recommended for anyone doing a

detox program. Triphala is available in capsules now in health food

stores. There is No known interactions between herb and allopathic

drugs. When buying Triphala, buy only in capsules. Avoid any powder

form. No Safety Warnings. Adults can take two tablets 2-3 times a day

between meals. Children under 10 can take the same dosage. Best used

regularly to improve bowel health.

Excretion through sweating releases fat soluable toxins such as DDT,

and heavy metals such as lead. Cleansing the pores of the skin and

allowing for the rejuvenation process are all the great benefits of

detoxing through regular exercise.

Water should be a very important part of any nutritional program.

Distilled water is best. 6-8 eight ounce glasses a day.

Glutathione is an important detoxification compound. Vitamin C is the

most cost-effective way of raising Glutathione levels. Take 1,000 mg

three times a day.

Taking Silymarin,(70 to 210 mg three times per day) the flavonoid

complex from Milk Thistle is a well-researched way to improve liver

function.

Take 1 to 2 tablespoons of water-soluable fiber supplement at night

before bed. Powdered Psyllium, Seed husks, or Oat Bran are suggested.
