Trepke http://www..com I would like to thank Dr. Jay Adlersberg for this great positive outlook on the best medicine for your heart! A Positive Attitude May Be The Best Medicine For Your Heart By Dr. Jay Adlersberg Imagine a test with a half a glass of water. Do you see it as half empty, as a pessimist might? Or half full, as you might if you're an optimist? Your answer may tell whether you'll life a long life or suffer an early death. Dr. Jonathan Whiteson follows heart attack and heart surgery patients who are in cardiac rehab. Dr. Jonathan Whiteson, NYU Medical Center: " Those with better mood and optimism have shorter length of stay, fewer complications, make greater functional improvements. " Today's study says that mood may do even more than improve heart attack recovery. It may prevent death. The study found more overall deaths and more heart related deaths in people who described themselves as pessimists than in those who were optimists. Listen to heart attack and bypass patient Mark Neiman. Mark Neiman, Heart Patient: " I''ve seen the glass as half empty only to realize that a change of mindset made me feeling healthier and better. " An up mood can be created by the support of the patients and staff of the rehab program. But how might a positive attitude lead to better survival? Optimism may start in the mind, but it has a profound impact on what a person does to keep the body healthy. Dr.Whiteson: " An increased likelihood to adhere to lifestyle modifications, improved medication taking...better weight control. " In other words, taking better care of one's self. Mark Neiman's new- found optimism is helping him do just that. Neiman: " I have another shot at life. I intend to see see grandchildren and dance at their weddings. That'll be in 25 years, so I'll sign up for that right now. "
