Do we really have to go THERE? Approved by who? Under what

standards? And what about people who derive joy, peace and love

from OTHER books of sacred scripture? Do they not possess truth?

Some of the most ethical people I know are atheists. What about

them?

 

Truth is so much bigger than our small human minds. It is also

stubborn. It has a way of existing wheather we acknowledge it.

It has a way of existing contrary to what we deem it should be.

It also has a way of being patient - for our eyes and hearts to

open.

 

Misty, I appreciate the message that came through and started

this thread b/c I think we need to hear it. I think we need to

'band together' in these difficults times b/c knowledge is

indeed power. But I wonder if this topic has begun to cross the

line in this group. Agree? comments?

 

Mind you, I'm not complaining and I think you run a great list.

I just personally have VERY little patience with religious

discussion with strangers on email lists. You can't see any

facial expression. You can't really " debate " without taking up

everyone's time and people who are too fundamentalist just

really bug me lately!

 

Course, with the right subject headers I can just delete certain

messages if everyone else is enjoying this talk. I just think

the " healthy " approach would be to share differences of opinions

in the hope for common ground and/or growth rather than focusing

on the differences as if they were negatives.

 

Just by the by I own a book called " The Family Virtues Guide "

written by Linda Kavelin Popov with Dan Popov and John Kavelin.

In it are 52 virtues and I quote " It is not about the practices

or beliefs of any one faith but it sourced in the virtues which

are the COMMON ELEMENTS of spirituality found in all sacred

traditions. " [the emphasis placed is mine]

 

That sort of religion/spiritualtiy is all that I can stomach

right about now.
