AHHA Special Update for October

Special Update from the American Holistic Health Association with items

of interest to those actively enhancing their health and well-being --

another free service from AHHA.

FEATURED NEWS ITEM

Have you noticed the increasing number of negative news stories

claiming that dietary supplements are dangerous? As we have in the past

(12/8/02), we recommend that you question results that don't seem to

make sense to you. When you are watching a TV report or reading a news

story, ask yourself these questions. Who is funding the project? How

well was the study designed? How were the subjects selected? Below is a

recent article, followed by two from the opposite perspective.

Vitamins pills do not stop cancer: Vitamin supplements do nothing to

prevent gut cancers and may shorten life expectancy, research suggests.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3703498.stm

In this article about a study in Denmark claiming that vitamin

supplements may shorten your life, note the comment that ''many of the

people in the study were sokers, who have a higher death risk anyway.''
