Cold Urticaria...anybody know anything?

Sorry for the human question...

Does anyone have any idea what would cause an increased incidence of cold

urticaria reactions?

(an explanation of what cold urticaria is for those who don't know:

I'm breaking out in hives everytime I enter an air conditioned building (and

since is a nice 95 degrees outside, all buildings have their a/c running

right now). My hands swell up everytime I grab something out of the fridge.

I have had cold urticaria for YEARS but it has never been this sensitive

before...I'm about to go crazy!!! It takes about 2 hours for the hives and

swelling to go away, only to have it come back immediately the next time I

encounter something remotely cool. That's the craziest part - its not

necessarily COLD - a 72 degree building would not normally make me break out

in hives...usually don't see that until about 55 degrees. I can hardly move

my fingers when the soft tissues swell up, and the hives itch and burn like

crazy.

I'm worried because I already have very low blood pressure, and with the

increased incidence of the reactions, my risk of going into shock is

increased as well.

Thank You,

Erin A. Wolf
