I have found that some dentists are quick to do root canals and some aren't. Some like to pull teeth and some don't. I found a holistic dentist who just filled my son's teeth that other dentists had wanted to pull or do root canals on. So the alternative I can suggest is find a different dentist.

I have known people who have healed cavities with energy techniques or herbs; one of those might help.

Was it in this group that someone talked about healing cavities with black walnut? Does anyone have more information about that?

But how the salt will be used, and for how long? Any salt will do or some

special salt is needed? For how long salt should be used.

Take some salt on the index finger or a pinch of salt and put it on

the infected tooth and the surrounding gums. After the saliva

dissolves the salt, spit it out. Start with the salt available and if

encouraging results are obtained(this depends on the severity of the

condition-wether a pus pocket has already formed in the root?)then

you can obtain sea salt . Avoid the free flow ones. Use it after each

meal or so. Mix equal volomes of sea salt and sodium bi carbonate and

apply all over the teeth and gums with finger rubbing gently over the

gums and with a little more pressure over the teeth as a dentrifice

on alternate nights after meals. This will be very good for health of

the teeth and gums. Put two drops of chlorine in a glass of water and

rinse your mouth with the same once a month.

So WHAT DO YOU DO instead of a root canal?

Catherine,

The alternative to root canal therapy is extraction.

That's why prevention is so necessary.

My son is 49 with no decay, no fillings, and he's

got great gums.

Some day prevention will be picked up even in

dental schools. Bev, my nutritionist wife, has give

courses in 11 dental schools. She's a CNC and

has a degree in BioTechnology.

Re dental health, being a breast fed child for as

long as possible (up to two years of age) seems to

contribute to strong teeth later in life as well as

good health in general. Breast feeding your child may

be one of the greatest gifts you can give him or her.

Dr. Mittelman-

Thank you for your answer. Can you share some of your insights into

prevention on this list? I appreciate your comment that root canals

are dangerous, but I find posts that give guidance on moving forward

to health the most helpful on this list.

I realize you offer a newsletter, but I don't want to receive more

snail mail, and anything you can share online would be welcome.

Cavitations are infected areas in bone surrounding the roots of teeth.

They usually come from infected matter in root canalled teeth.

When a DDS does root canal therapy (RCT) s/he sterilizes and fills the vertical

pulp canal - about an inch long - and leaves infected the approximate 3 miles of

dentinal tubules that cannot yet be treated.

The infection exudes from the root to the supporting jaw-bone.

Sick? " , reply with your po box or street address.

Infections from this source affects your entire immune system - your health both

physical and mental.

The infection exudes from the root to the supporting jaw-bone.

....assuming, that is, that the infection doesn't clear up by itself, when the patient changes his diet, and eats infection-fighting foods, that promote a strengthened immune system.

A few months ago, I had a toothache. My dentist

said the pain was a symptom of a dying nerve and that

I needed a root canal or extraction. I ended up

putting golden seal on the gum; the pain went away;

so far I still have the tooth.

I tried researching on the web. There seems to be

very little about saving a tooth, perhaps because it

is so easy to pull them!

My son, aged 15, has a tooth slightly darker than the others and the dentist

has said it was probably knocked a while ago (maybe years) and that he needs

some sort of root treatment. The tooth is more sensitive than the others.

Do you think this treatment would be useful for him?

Thanks.

Thanks for the info.

I've been using myrhh (in water as a rinse) the past week and someone suggested

clove, so I've been using that the last few days as well (I have a small tube of

" mouth freshener " that has clove, tea tree, and mint in it. I've been putting it

on my fingertip and rubbing it directly on that spot on the gums rather than

dropping on the tip of the tongue as the " freshener " directions suggest.) and I

haven't had any swelling for about a day now. Yesterday there wasn't any and

none so for today.

The gum is still tender, so I intend to keep with what I'm doing and look for

some goldenseal as well.

Thanks again for the tip!

:) Have a good day.

I have used goldenseal and ecchinacea for similar dental problems before.

A friend who had a tooth infected, and as a result had an extremely swollen

jaw- and who could get a dental appointment only two weeks away-used

ecchinacea and goldenseal, with salt, water, and peroxide rinses. After two

days, the pocket of puss and blood burst, he spit it out, rinsed again, and

by the next day did not need the dentist- and kept the tooth.
