Guest guest
Hi Dawne... I was researching different articles for you when my internet browser just shut down, and unfortunately I don't have time to re- research it for you... But this may be a blessing in disguise... This way you can pick and choose what speaks to you... If you do an internet search you can find alot. I was using google, and was looking up " healthy sugar alternatives " I found some really good articles. One article though said splenda is natural. No way, no how, and it is tricky because splenda in scientific-ese is sucralose, so very close to sucrose, which is normal table sugar. Sucralose is not natural, and is toxic... I also learned that stevia is very, very concentrated. That 1 teaspoon is equal to a cup of sugar!! So they recommended using much smaller portions of stevia than what we think of with plain sugar, and they said using less should help with the aftertaste as well... Then I looked up cooking with honey... There were websites devoted to just that, recipes for cooking with honey... They also gave tips on how to adjust the liquid in a recipe if you are using honey... I was in the process of searching for cooking with date sugar when my computer decided to take a narcoleptic nap... I think you are in for a lot of fun trying all the different ideas... Would you be sure to share some of the stellar recipes you come across? And I will keep my eye open for you as well... One I know off the top of my head to share is a smoothie... I normally sprout buckwheat overnight, and at the same time let dates sit in a glass of water overnight. In the morning, drain buckwheat, discard water, and rinse thoroughly because it will have become quite gellatinous... Put sprouts in blender, slowly add water from dates, blend until smooth (tip- if you add too much water it won't blend right, so less is better initially), once smooth add rest of date water, dates- minus pits, and any sweet fruits, yogurt, juice, etc., until you have the smoothie of your dreams.
