Hi

I know anecdotally that this is common and part of the treatment but

as to why?

I have assumed it is because the treat like with like approach means

that you are getting an aggravation of your problem in order to let

the body treat it - but I'm sure others can contradict or explain

that better !!

Best regards

Deborah

PS are you using gfcf to reduce symptoms - just looking out for

someone doing the same bizarre cooking as me !!

How long have you had crohns?

Was this your first visit to this particular gastroenterologist?

Have you been on other more mainstream Western Med. crohns medication

for a while?

Have you had surgery yet?

Have you been adjusting your diet & lifestyle and, if so, to what degree?

These can all be viewed as rhetorical questions.

There are many factors here.

hi

gfcf is gluten free , casein free ( pretty much wheat and milk

products).

my son has autism but not " rainman " autism - instead aggressive

regressive autism .This is the " new " type of autism which now affects

1 in 166 children.

the odd thing ( correct that - one of the many odd things ) about

this type of autism is that it is usually associated with bowel

problems and frequently crohns.

many of these kids have improved their bowels - and their autism with

a gfcf diet, amongst other things .

i just wondered if this is ever a treatment for just the crohns bit -

if it has ever been suggested to you that your condition might be

helped by diet ?

best regards

--- Voula, No one has ever been harmed by taking Homeopathic preparations, is

your gastroenterologist a qualified Homeopath?

Occasionally, when a high potency preparation is taken, the symptom can indeed

get worse before it starts to get better. Also, Homeopathic medicine usually

has to be taken for considerably longer than three days.

Homeopathy

Hi everyone,

I am a new member of the group. I have a question about

homeopathy and aggravation of symptoms. I saw a gastroenterologist

the other week for my crohns disease and he prescribed homeopathic

pills for three days. I don't know the particular remedy or potency.

I took the first dose yesterday and last night had an awful night. I

don't know if it's an aggravation from the homeopathy, or just part

of my illness as I have been ill for some months now. I am a bit

scared to take today's dose or tomorrow's. I tried to call him and he

is out of the office until tomorrow. Is this aggravation of symptoms

usual with homeopathy? Thank you for any advice you can give.

Hi Penel,

thank you for your reply. To answer your questions, I was diagnosed with

crohns disease about twelve years ago.

How long have you had crohns?

Was this your first visit to this particular gastroenterologist?

Yes this was the first visit to this gastroenterologist.

Have you been on other more mainstream Western Med. crohns medication

for a while?

Yes I have been on salazopyrin and colifoam.

Have you had surgery yet?

No thank God, no surgery.

Have you been adjusting your diet & lifestyle and, if so, to what degree?

Yes I have been adjusting my diet and lifestyle a lot.

These can all be viewed as rhetorical questions.

There are many factors here.

Yes there are. I took the second dose of the homeopathic remedy yesterday

and didn't seem to have a reaction this time. I was pretty ill before I took the

first dose, so I think it was just the disease and not the remedy perhaps?

How are you doing with your ulcerative colitis, and what do you do to

help yourself?

Hi Deborah,

I have tried gluten free and it didn't make much difference. I also cut out

wheat and milk. Cutting out wheat didn't make a difference, but cutting out milk

did. A gfcf diet is being used for crohns by some people. Some find success and

others don't from what I have heard.

Yes it has been suggested by my doctors that diet could help crohns. The

gastroenterologist I saw that prescribed the homeopathic treatment believes diet

is critical to crohns, cutting out certain things and also eating as organic a

diet as possible.

Hi Ray,

I don't know if the doctor is a qualified homeopath. Good point! He did ask

a lot of questions for quite a long time, he didn't just say take this remedy.

Then again that might mean nothing I know. He said to call him after one week

after I took the remedy for three days to report on my progress.

Kat,

You're correct. Xylitol can be excellent for preventing

dental decay (and then the need for root canal therapy)

- but if the pulp chamber is infected with bacteria, the

xylitol has no effect on that tooth.
