Guest guest
Misty, We have a confusion in terms. Homeopathy certainly helps clear up the abscess situation - but only in the root canal situation for a while. The body responds to the challenge of the infection with inflammation - we find swelling and pain - and homeopathy stimulates the body to fix the situation - abort the symptoms - so the individual feels 'cured.' Antibiotics can be used when we see a swollen face caused by an infected root canal. The patient looks and feels better. But in both cases, the germs remain protected by the anatomy of the tooth's root - and down the line, later on, the situation will blow up again. Misty, one should use homeopathy in these cases to help reinforce the body's resistive capacity. But the cause of the problem must be attended to also. Homeopathy stimulates, energizes the healing ability of the body, but the protected bacteria must be killed off if we don't want return of the problem. I'm retired, but in our practice, we used homeopathy extensively. I was president of The International Academy of Preventive Medicine in '76 - rubbed elbows with the best homeopaths in our country. Heimlich and Panos quoted me in their best-seller book - I believe it was on using homeopathy in children's teething. Believe me when I say that I was not one of those 'establishment' mechanical dentists. Jerry Mittelman, DDS, FAPM
