Guest guest
Please keep us updated on the condition of this tooth. We need to be more adventurous about pursuing alternatives to root canals and crown because they degrade the health. I had assumed they were unavoidable but now that I have two crown which both cause me mild discomfort and worry, I wish I had left them uncrowned. A mouth guard at night protects the teeth from grinding and supports a tooth which is vulnerable to damage. It's a good idea, but I personally am reluctant to sleep with anything in my mouth. Also, avoid damaging your teeth by eating corn nuts, hard candies, wasabi peas, and the like. As a person ages, teeth are often more susceptible to cracking. Also, in addition to brushing and flossing, there is a plastic stick with bristle at each end which can be used to remove plaque along the edge of your teeth. Be conservative about replacing teeth fillings unnecesarily. Also, it's worth paying a little more and looking for the best dental care you can find. Some dentists have better manual dexterity than others. A well done filling will last years longer. Also, if a tooth is poorly filled, such as with a large, difficult filling, sometime this has to be redone--a disaster for the integrity of the tooth. Anyone who still has good teeth can pay attention to help avoid future problems.
