Guest guest
Thanks, Jerry. Please do not take this as a personal criticism or as an attack. It is not meant that way. But I do wish to say that dentists are no exception, and are in fact a prime example of what Bernard Shaw was talking about when he said, in so many words, that if a doctor was a hangman, he'd be a judge and jury as well. You mentioned that choosing a dentist willy-nilly can be dangerous. I agree. Choosing a dentist from the yellow pages, or even on a friend's recommendation, is dangerous for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that people very rarely get second opinions when " their " dentist tells them they need dental work done. Over the years, I have had dentists either misdiagnose or outright lie about cavities they said I had, or lie about something else. The first time I realized a dentist had lied to me was when one told me I had cavities in my top front incisors from having had braces. I moved to another area without getting any work done, and the new dentist I went to said there was no sign of any cavities. Turned out dentist #2 was telling the truth. The same thing happened again when I switched from one dentist to another. Another time I was lied to by a dentist about nitrous oxide. I asked him if he used it in his practice, and he said he did not have any and did not use it. Not long after, that dentist was away on vacation, and his partner did some dental work for me. During our conversation, he let me know that he had been using nitrous oxide on patients who asked for it for years. I know there was a Readers Digest article years ago about reporters for the magazine who first ascertained that they had no dental problems, and who then went from dentist to dentist, getting check- ups. A very alarming percentage of those dentists diagnosed those reporters with dental problems. How lucrative for those dentists with a criminal mentality that insurance companies have for years skimped on or not covered people for dental work. How amazing that so many people continue to trust " their " dentist, when so many dentists tell so many lies. Best wishes, Elliot
Guest guest
Elliot, I agree with everything you say about dentists. It's a fact that only about 6 to 8% of them are preventively oriented. The main aim of good medicine and dentistry should be to make themselves unnecessary. My son is 49 -- with NO cavities or fillings and has great gums. That's the purpose of our newsletter - to help people NOT to need dentists by preventing the need for repairs. Your mindset is based on 51 years of bad experience with the average dentist. My aim is to change that. Take the guess-work out of your choice - most people select their physician or dentist as a result of personality feelings. It could be like playing Russian Roulette - dangerous. Any dentist can call him or herself a " Biologic " dentist. I have a report for you: How to Find an Holistic Dentist - has a list of things to ask and things to observe, to look for - to see if you're not making a mistake. Where am I coming from? I was elected President of The International Academy of Preventive Medicine and was a Founder of The American Society of Preventive Dentistry.
