Guest guest
Unfortunately laws concerning naturopaths are creeping in that not only are medicalizing naturopathy, but also increasing there scope of practice so that these medical naturopaths can be a severe threat for the rest of alternative practictioners that want to practice... These are important issues to consider in the health freedom movement... Comments? Misty L. Trepke http://www..com Naturopaths who operate in Washington, DC need to take ACTION NOW... American Association of Nutritional Consultants, HealthKeepers Alliance, & Counsel on Naturopathic Registration and Accreditation NATIONWIDE ALERT, EXTREMELY URGENT! IMMEDIATE ATTENTION NEEDED! Dear Friend, The Mayor of Washington, DC, Honorable Anthony Williams, is considering an ordinance that has already passed the Senate and the House regarding the " Practice of Naturopathic Medicine Licensing Amendment Act, LB 57. This bill endangers the future of traditional naturopathy as it seeks to restrict both licensing and the functional capacities of those who are naturopaths. You can make a big difference in keeping your rights by EXERCISING your rights and calling, emailing, faxing, or using any other method to contact the office of the Mayor (contact sheet included) and using the suggested talking points. Request that he VETO that bill! What if there is not a substantial voice to stop this bill? The majority of traditional naturopaths such as yourself would have to either abandon your chosen career or face the threat of being fined and put out of business. This monopolistic, exclusionary legislation is bad news for the natural health profession and for the citizens of United States. The Naturopathic field has been open to anyone to embrace for thousands of years. Now, one or two questionable schools want to mandate how everyone else MUST practice as a naturopath. PLEASE take a few moments right now to contact the Mayor to voice your request to OPPOSE the `naturopathic physician's licensing' bill. American Association of Nutritional Consultants, HealthKeepers Alliance, & Counsel on Naturopathic Registration and Accreditation FLORIDA EXTREMELY URGENT! IMMEDIATE ATTENTION NEEDED! Dear Friend, The city of the Tallassee, Florida, the Committee on Health Care is considering House Bill 1375, the terms and licensure of " Naturopathic Doctor, Naturopathic Medicine, ND or Doctor of Naturopathy " This bill endangers the future of traditional naturopathy as it seeks to restrict both licensing and the functional capacities of those who are naturopaths. You can make a big difference in keeping your rights by EXERCISING your rights and calling, emailing, faxing, or using any other method to contact the members of the Committee on Human Services using the enclosed contact list and using the suggested talking points. Ask them to OPPOSE HB 1375! What if there is not a substantial voice to stop this bill? The majority of traditional naturopaths such as yourself would have to either abandon your chosen career or face the threat of being fined and put out of business. This monopolistic, exclusionary legislation is bad news for the natural health profession and for the citizens of United States. PLEASE take a few moments right now to contact the members of the subcommittee to voice your request to OPPOSE HB 1375, the General guidelines for communicating with your government representative 1. Write very neatly or type your request so it can and will be read with ease. Would you read your own letter if it was sent to you? 2. Be clear and up front stating your purpose and stick to that issue. Will everyone who glances at the title understand your request? 3. State your top valid reasons without going into difficult technical terminology. Would the average person be able to understand your reasoning? 4. Include your signature, printed name, date, as well as your address. This way they can respond, and it also reminds them you are a voter, not a carbon copy from a print shop or a randomly forwarded message online. 5. State your clear request at the beginning, middle, and end in bold so it cannot be misconstrued, misplaced or misunderstood. 6. When writing, keep it to one short page if at all possible and in large enough print. 7. When calling, be to the point, considerate, confident, and brief so others can call too. 8. Mark your calendar to check on the result and contact them again to express your appreciation or disappointment in THEIR vote despite the outcome. 9. Spread the word to others whom you think would want similar results so they can also show their support and voice their concern in a timely fashion. Suggested Talking point 1 There is no need for naturopathic legislation since it has been in the public domain for centuries. There are presently laws in every state restricting the practice of medicine to medical doctors. There is no need to create a new class of medical doctors. The naturopaths who are seeking to sponsor this legislation simply want to redefine naturopathic philosophy and use it as a back door method of getting into the practice of medicine. They are woefully unqualified to practice medicine without attending a medical school recognized by the AMA. Suggested Talking point 2 Less than 10% of those who currently practice the naturopathic philosophy of wellness would qualify to practice their craft under the new proposed naturopathic legislation.. It is restrictive and monopolistic in nature and does not serve either the profession or the general public. Suggested Talking point 3 This legislation is against the public good in that it deprives the general public of their free choice in seeking out individuals who have been trained in the science and practice of naturopathy. Naturopathy is a non-invasive health building philosophy promoting health through nutritious foods, proper rest, exercise, fresh air, sunlight and avoiding habits which are toxic to the body. Suggested Talking Point 4. The naturopathic legislation which is being proposed is the legislation initiated by the alumni association of three naturopathic schools designed to take over the field of naturopathy and use it to put out of business 90% of the naturopaths who did not attend their schools. These schools teach a curriculum which is considered inappropriate for the practice of naturopathy in that they wish to dispense legend drugs and perform surgical procedures. We ask that the legislature does not give in to these individuals who are seeking to limit the practice of naturopathy by monopolizing the practice through licensure to their one little group. THIS IS ONLY AN EXAMPLE! YOU MAY USE A SIMILAR FORMAT, HOWEVER PLEASE USE YOUR OWN WORDS AND THE CORRECT DATE, BILL AND LEGISLATOR INFORMATION --- ---------------------- PLEASE DEFEAT XXXXXX (DATE) The Honorable (FULL NAME) (BRANCH OF OFFICE) (ADDRESS, CITY STATE) Dear Representative or Honorable (or other appropriate title) (LAST NAME), Please vote against XXXXXX concerning naturopathic doctors. The bill is a thinly veiled attempt to control and restrict licensing. Less than 4% of those who currently provide naturopathic counsel would qualify for licensure under this bill. This is simply a bill to accommodate the alumni-associations of three naturopathic schools to the exclusion of other schools who hold to a more natural form of naturopathy rather than to a medical model (i.e. the use of legend drugs and surgeries such as breast augmentation, vasectomies, and hemorrhoid surgery as being a part of their training). If they want to practice medicine, they should simply go to a medical school. All citizens have the right to know of responsible lifestyle changes, eating habits, exercise programs and nutritional supplementation that may assist maintaining wellness and restoring over-all good health. By creating a privileged class of only one type of naturopath, the citizens will be greatly limited in their choice of counsel. Such a monopoly will outlaw conscientious and well-trained naturopaths who are not the alumni of one of the three schools. The majority of Naturopaths will become criminals under XXXXX .. All citizens also have a right to choose from whom they wish to receive health counsel. XXXXX would restrict that right! During the health debates of the early 1990's, the American Medical Association stated that all citizens had two health freedoms. These freedoms were the right of informed consent (the right to know) and the right to choose their practitioner. Monopolies that are designed to restrict knowledge and control or limit the freedom to know are always wrong. This is simply a bad bill. Its scope of practice included under the bill's definitions is such that nutritional consultants, health food store owners and employees, herbalists and many others would be put out of business or guilty of practicing naturopathy without a license. The purpose of this bill is to make it possible for a few naturopaths to be able to create a monopoly for their own benefit and restrict the freedoms of others. PLEASE VOTE AGAINST XXXXX .
