Guest guest
Comments? Misty L. Trepke http://www..com Tai Chi for Self-Healing by Yvette Gutierrez, CNHP, CTI Certified Natural Health Professional http://www.byregion.net/articles-healers/TaiChi_Healing.html The Chinese people consider body and mind connection and physical activity essential to health. We continue to hear of the amazing results from practitioners of this great art. We all have been exposed to the slow, graceful, fluid moves of Tai Chi through the media – advertising and reports of this great way to build the body while remaining calm at the same time. It has continued to grow and it's been practiced all over the world. Here in our own Tampa area, we have ongoing classes at such facilities as University Community Hospital (Carrollwood and Temple Terrace, YMCA, Tampa Palms and at Aston Gardens, a retirement community offering adult choices for active lifestyle. On going research continues to confirm what the Chinese have known for years. We are just beginning to understand how it works and how we can all benefit from it. Researchers from John Hopkins University in Baltimore had doubts as to whether this exercise/art of graceful moves would have any effect on lowering blood pressure. They were quite surprised when their research indicated that Tai Chi appeared to lower blood pressure as much as moderate, aerobic exercise. Tai Chi is a kind of energy therapy. The health benefits of Tai Chi are a result of the mindful use of energy for self-healing. The new quantum physics seems to prove that all matter at the molecular level is energy in motion. As the research continues in the field of mind/body medicine, more health professionals and students of mind/body disciplines are coming to accept the ancient belief that the life force energy activates all our biological processes. Research further indicates that Tai Chi offers many benefits to people 50 and over. Some of the benefits include strengthening, flexibility, balance, and increased circulation to all parts of the body, proper breathing, better concentration, and emotional balance. Some doctors are beginning to see the benefits of this great art and are encouraging their patients (those suffering from Osteoporosis, arthritis, Fibromyalgia) to get involve with this type of exercise. An article published by Time magazine praised Tai Chi as " the perfect exercise " . The greatest benefit, which most practitioners seem to enjoy, is the relaxation and sense of peace reached from practicing Tai Chi regularly. No other exercise has been known yet to provide us with a sense of peace and relaxation, while strengthening bones and muscles at the same time. The physical benefits are obvious, the emotional and mental benefits are hard to put in words – you just have to experience it to fully appreciate it.
