In Energy Psychology we also frequently find this phenomenon, where someone following a treatment regimen reports feeling great, but then claims nothing has changed - " it wasn't such an issue before " , or gives another reason unrelated to the treatment as to why there has been improvement. This is done even in the face of documented reports that the person has been struggling greatly with the problem in question over a significant period of time! Then they might come to a session and say, " I'm feeling better only because of a good night's sleep last night, " even though whatever the issue was may have been ongoing for months or years and the client may have stated during the history-taking that the symptoms were steady regardless of what went on! We even have a name for this phenomenon - the apex effect. It is as if people do not want to credit improvement to a treatment which does not fit within their cognitive frameworks and belief systems. Of course, that is fine, except that when people are not able to credit the treatment for the improvement, they are less likely to try that same treatment again next time it might be helpful, and so may lose out on potential benefits. Frustrating, but we all do what we can.... :-) Best to all Karen Karen Milstein, PhD, LISW
Guest guest
Hi All, Well, Misty and I came up with Pulsatilla as a remedy for my daughter. She suggested that I give her 30c every 2 hrs for 2-3 days. Well, I don't see any changes... Where do I go from here.... I have been giving her one pillule instead of the 5 stated on the bottle. Is this ok or is it not enough? It didn't specify adult vs child like I have seen on others. I am just wondering if it will just take longer until I see a change. Here are rubrics: Nose, discharge, suppressed Throat, swelling, tonsils Throat, swelling, tonsils, left Respiration, snoring. Respiration, difficult, nose, felt in respiration; difficult; children; respiration; difficult; during sleep; My daughter matches Pulsatilla as a constitution very closely. Thanks for any input. Guest guest
Hi Lisa... Yes, one instead of five is fine... In homeopathy what is important is not how much you take at one time, but how often the remedy is taken... Actually if you took the whole bottle at once, that does equal amount of good as just taking one. So not to worry... If we are not seeing the changes we want, it is not because of the number of pills given at a dose. But speaking of doses, let's just eliminate that as a source of difficulity. Have often have you given the remedy and for how long? Can you also be more specific and run through the various symptoms and what has or has not changed? I saw a lady this morning, and she swore up and down nothing was different, but when we started looking back in detail, the symptoms were in fact better. Are her tonsils still enlarged? Is she still stuffy? As much, as long, as frequently? Has there been any difference in the discharge? Is she still more clingy than usual? If most of these are better but the snoring is still there, that would be different then nothing having changed. Depending on your reply, we may need to go back to the drawing board, or do a little more creative homeopathy... In other words, less classical, which many times I prefer... But let's see what you have to say before we cross that bridge.... One other thing, were any of the symtpoms better at one point, and then became worse? It is always a fine line when considering how often to take the remedy... This might also need to be looked at... Guest guest
An interesting concept, Misty - eradicating the memory of the disease - or of the problem. I'll watch to see if this way of framing the phenomenon seems to fit clinically. Thanks! Karen
Guest guest
Hi Karen... Wow!! This is some of the stuff I was hoping we would learn from each other!!! I find it very interesting that you have had this experience as well, and especially since you are working energetically with people. In homeopathy we believe since we are correcting the fundamental imbalance in the energetic realm that homoepathy has the capability to literally erradicate the memory of disease. And I have to admit, I have fallen prey to this experence personally myself. I have had it happen not a few times that the person doing my remedies asked how I was doing and I asked what they meant- basically why are you asking I am fine, then to realize... ooops... did it myself, yep that symptom went away... Guest guest
Has a really good ENT taken a look? You're describing me, especially in my childhood. I recently went to an ENT for bloody noses (I'm 42 and live in a dry place - Albuquerque) and found that I had a severe deviated septum and a large bone spur - so I was basically only getting one nostril! I had surgery and it's been wonderful since! I can breathe so much better. Wish my parents would have found this in me as a young child because it's not due to injury, so it's probably been there my whole life. It's worth a look. Guest guest
Hi Deana, Thank you for sharing. Yes, there is no harm in seeing an ENT just to see everything is ok... What is really hopeful though, is I have had people tell me that their Dr.'s say their congestion can not be improved without surgery, due to deviated septums, etc., but what I have found is that they still can respond beautifully to homeopathic treatment. And for bone spurs, homeopathy is incredible. Why is the bone deposited inappropriately to begin with? It is that subtle process that homeopathy will address. So not only will you not have the bone spur, but the process that led to that spur should be corrected as well. Surgery simply is not capable of doing more than removing the bone- it can never address the reason why the calcium/bone material was metabolized & deposited incorrectly to begin with. ps- And should the deviation be such that surgery is neccessary, I think there are bodywork techniques for correcting a deviated septum, just in case someone else is a chicken like me and would prefer to take that route... Any rolfers or other bodyworkers that would like to add to this? Be Well, Misty http://www..com , " Deana Smiel " <rsmiel@h...> wrote: > Has a really good ENT taken a look?
