Hi Suzy & everyone,

If any of you live in Albuquerque and are looking for a gardener, they don't

come better than Suzy!! She truly is a master gardener par excellence.

I am so glad you posted regarding the peppermint. I have a few questions for

you if you don't mind... Is the peppermint, spearmint, and thyme that I planted

last year, and some of which I planted back almost 3 years ago, is it still good

to use? Is the plant too old and tired to be medicinal or even tasty?

Just curious because when I tore up my plot a little to make room for the

veggies, they were looking tired (faded, dull, etc). So I nibbled a few and

they tasted tired as well (not much taste). Is that because of the time of year

or the age of the plant or something else?

Thanks in advance,

Be Well, Misty

living as a gardenera and feel a need to expand on the comment of

growing peppermint. Yes, it is invasive in an urban " garden bed " ,

but in a large area, it is colorful all season and .... the honey

bees love it! There are many uses for pepermint! My favorite, is to

provide the young neighbor I have who is raising bees a wonderful

source for the bees " hand out " thus about 2 times annually this

young neighbor graces me with 10 quarts of honey from her bees!

You might try using it indoors as an air freshener, a filler in a

floral arrangement, drawer fresheners for my young sons sock drawer

and springs in his tennis shoes in the summer. A great addivitve to

ice cream, teas and garnish on summer " cool " food. And, don't forget

you can store it EZ by placing the leaves in an ice cube try, filling

the tray with water, freexing the cubes and storing in a zip lock.

Drop one min your suntea and you are ready to go!
