Guest guest
Homeopathic Remedy of the Week- Nux Vomica by Misty L. Trepke http://www..com Nux Vomica- This is one of the most important and commonly indicated homeopathic remedies, especially for modern times. To describe Nux Vomica in a word would be: excess! It is very useful for all sorts of excesses; such as for people that excessively: work and/or eat and/or study and/or sleep and/or party… You name it, just about any activity that is done excessively could fall under the category of Nux Vomica. What is also striking about Nux Vomica is the very unique sleep pattern that emerges. Though this characteristic does not need to be present, if it is, it is almost surely a Nux Vomica case. People needing Nux Vomica will often wake between 3:30 and 4:00 in the morning and find themselves unable to return to sleep (often times due to thoughts of work) until just about the time the alarm clock goes off. Not the ingredients of a good night sleep. As a result, they often are not morning people and can be quite grumpy and irritable until the first cup of coffee (and sometimes much longer than that). Actually, stimulants become very important to them to make it through the day. Once at work, and into the groove, they can become very work oriented, often excessively devoted to work. They also tend to have many gastric complaints, such as constipation, often with the desire to go but the inability to consummate the act, or even constipation alternating with diarrhea. There can also be a tendency to headaches, especially the " morning after " kinds and/or photophobia (sensitivity to light). As mentioned above there is a great attraction to stimulants, whether they be: coffee, spicy foods, alcohol, tobacco, drugs and/or sexual stimulation. But in other ways, perhaps due to their already over stimulated condition, external stimuli such as light, noise and odors can greatly affect them. Nux Vomica, if used properly would be one of the greatest benefits to mankind during these modern times. Key Points to Remember: Excess! Wake 3:30-4:00, unable to sleep until time to wake up- often up thinking about work. Irritable, competitive, impatient, " workaholics " . Crave stimulants. Gastric complaints, possibly including constipation with ineffectual urging to stool. Headaches, especially the " morning after " variety.
