Guest guest
Yeah,Misty there CAN be frivolous lawsuits---you remember the one about the woman who spilled hot coffee from McD's in her lap--I forget what she settled for, but over a million. Now there's one in Knoxville, TN where a lady got burned on the chin from a pickle falling out of a McD's hamburger--she is claiming that it ruined her self-dignity and the husband came back and sued as well for lack of sexual pleasure due to the burn! Can you believe it! Those are pretty outrageous, but I found something that gives me a little peace of mind instead of getting all worried about all those possibilities that could happen and sometimes do happen. Have you ever heard of Pre-Paid Legal Services? I have a membership where I pay a small monthly fee and my whole family has a law firm on retainer in my city that is there to answer all my questions, make phone calls for me, look over contracts before we sign and they even did our will, traffic tickets and all kinds of stuff. I get really heated about these law suits because they end up victimizing the people that the justice system is supposed to be protecting. The system is so messed up and besides that, there isn't equal access to it. People who are rich can afford to have a lawyer and the lower income scale gets public defenders, but what about the rest of the people? Sorry to have gotten off on a rant, but I get plugged in about the average person not being able to get some help with challenges they have because they have to always consider 'how much will it cost'? Anyway, I can get you in touch with someone if you want more info...have a blessed day!
Guest guest
Hi... Gesh, talk about silly lawsuites. I find it difficult to believe a pickle, let alone a McD's hamburger, was hot enough to burn someone... You are right, the legal system is supposed to be protecting people, and not meant to be used as a form of harassment and intimidation (as reported by Tim Bolen in regards to the quackbusters), or as in the case above, a ticket on the gravy train... Sure, go ahead and share that information with us... Guest guest
Thanks, Misty. A few years ago there was a 10+ page article in " U.S. News and World Report " about the scandalous legal system in this country and how the rest of the world is dealing with theirs. It also went into the fact that the Europeans had pretty much solved their problem with a runaway system and why the US was not doing anything about it. It seems that now that nearly all legislators are lawyers, they protect the welfare of lawyers and NOT the public. Guest guest
Hi Misty....I was commenting to the group about 10 days ago about the frivolous lawsuit phenomenon and how crazy that can get. My name is Val Romero and I have been working with a company called Pre-Paid Legal Services for over four years. This company has taken the concept of 'equal justice for all' and actually made that a reality by offering families and businesses their own law firm and team of attorneys to assist them with the various challenges that we all experience in life either personally or professionally. This is done thru a monthly membership that gives them and their entire family immediate access to an expert in every area of law with unlimited phone consultation, letters written for you, contracts reviewed before you sign them, a comprehensive will and lots of other benefits for less than a cup of coffee a day---it truly is unbelievable because what keeps most of us from getting help with a challenge we are having is 'what would it cost?'--wouldn't you agree? When you don't have to consider the financial side, it changes how you can conduct your life---saving time & money and giving you some peace of mind. Isn't that what we are all after---peace of mind? I have seen this membership do some phenomenal things for all kinds of different issues---two great things come out of having this membership: empowerment and leveling the playing field. Both of those things just feel good and make life lots easier. If you or anyone wants more information, you can contact me at 1-888-570-5390 or visit my website at www.prepaidlegal.com/go/valromero. I don't know if frivilous lawsuits will ever go away, but I do know that there are more and more laws being passed every year, so it makes good sense to have an attorney on your side being an advocate for you and watching your back! Interesting concept, don't you think? Val Romero Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc.
