Carpal tunnel chat overview

I would like to give everyone an overview of the chat we had last

Wednesday about carpal tunnel syndrome.

From a chiropractor's view point:

In most cases the real problem is not from the wrist but from poor

mechanics of the neck. There is a condition called vertebral

subluxation which is a misalignment of the vertebra in your spine

which can cause nerve root irritation, artery impingement, muscle

malfunction and stretching of ligaments, etc. All the above weakens

the area and when you combine this with poor postural habits at a

work station or work at home etc it sets the stage for problems

which can manifest itself in the wrist. Even people who have had a

positive EMG might benefit form conservative treatment.

Chiropractors generally say try Chiropractic first, medicine second

and surgery as a last resort.

In our office, we have a specialized exam for carpal tunnel

sufferers. It is designed to find out where the loss of proper

mechanics is coming from.

Even people who have already had the surgery would benefit from

conservative preventative measures. If they do not learn proper

mechanics and exercises the cause of the problem is not gone and the

carpal tunnel symptoms will return.

I hope people got from the chat that prevention is so very important

but can be helped through conservative measures.

Please email me if you have any questions

Thank you
