Hello all...

Yet ANOTHER threat to health freedom but for this one there might be

a happy ending in sight. :)

Gesh- they are coming in faster and faster! But this one is a

perfect example of what postive action of the people can acheive.

According to the California's Medical Practice Act- anyone who

performs any kind of treatmet for any kind of ailment, injury or

condition must have medical licensure- even if their treatment is not

potentially harmful. As a result, a great number of California's

alternative healing practitioners may be technically violating CA

state's Medical Practice Act. This includes many practitioners of

popular healing alternatives such as massage therapy, homeopathy,

ayurveda, naturopathy, reiki, craniosacral therapy, herbalism, and

others.

(Even if you do not live in California, legislation like this affects

all of us- which state will be next?)

So, in response to this the California Health Freedom Coalition

(CHFC) is attempting to pass SB577- it will allow unlicensed

alternative health providers to offer their valuable services legally

and safely- it will create a safe environment for the practice of

alternative health care and ensure access to consumers. It will

preserve California's citizens' rights to choose the kind of health

care they want.

So far this bill has passed the California Senate on January 22, 2002

and it recently passed the California Assembly's vote on August 15,

2002. Almost time to celebrate... But it still needs to be signed

into law by the Governor...
