Guest guest
Hi everyone- First of all a great big thank you to Dr. Mark for sharing with the group that Carpal Tunnel does not have to mean surgery! I have also worked with people with Carpal Tunnel and have seen them get better- so I fully support Dr. Mark- people suffering with this are not necessarily doomed to go under the knife. Besides, like Dr. Mark says- what is the point if the surgery does not even address the cause of the Carpal Tunnel? I did some research of my own on the net about Carpal Tunnel and came across several excellent sites that detail self-help and prevention ideas. The most complete and informative sites that I found are listed below… http://www.bodymindresources.com/carpalthoracic/carpaltheory.htm This is one of the best sites I found- it is very informative and has lots of anatomy pictures to show what is going in inside of the body. http://www.bodymindresources.com/carpalthoracic/carpalthoraciclab.htm This is the companion site to the one listed above, and is as good if not even better. It lists all sorts of self-help and prevention ideas for Carpal Tunnel, as well as Thoracic Outlet Syndrome- as Dr. Mark said- " Carpal Tunnel " does not always stem from the wrist. http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/natural_health/14500 This article is very limited compared to the sites and information listed above, but there is no harm in listing it as well… http://www.osha- slc.gov/SLTC/computerworkstations_ecat/checklist.html This is OSHA's, Occupational Safety & Health Administration, US Department of Labor workstation guidelines- gives tips that you may want to keep in mind when you are setting up or working at your workstation so as to prevent Carpal Tunnel or other poor body position maladies. http://www.doer.state.mn.us/ei-safih/pdfrtfs/ergo2.pdf This is Minnesota's Department of Employee Relations Pdf file showing how a workstation should be set up- a picture is worth a thousand words! http://carpal-tunnel-questions-and-answers.com/index.html This site focuses on surgery much more than I am comfortable with but it does mention various alternative treatments for Carpal Tunnel. I hope everyone enjoys these links... I will also create a file under bookmarks for Carpal Tunnel and list them there as well... Be Well, Misty. -Do you have information or know of informative sites that will benefit others? Don't be shy- post them here so we can all learn together...
