Guest guest
Hello all devotees, Hope all is well. I have a question and I need clarification. Please if you have time I would like to here all your answers. Here is what scriptures: "The Supreme Reality or the Ultimate Truth cannot be understood by any of the sense perceptions or intellect." Then what are the ways to reach the goal? Why is the scripture contradicting itself? If I had no sense perception then I would have never heard anything or seen anything about existence of the The Truth. Its through sense perception that we first came to know about the existence. Human beings are trying to solve the existential question. If the power of illusion is so intense then why should I trust anything. Why does God exist? I am sounding very ignorant. But since I am beginner I have plenty of questions (and please forgive my ignorance if you can). I dont even know the meaning of religious virtues such as kindness, purity, devotion, compassion, forgiveness and etc. I dont know the meaning of anything. I am completely lost. Please let me know your individual explanation and opinions. Thanks in advance and in saying that I am just pretending. ---Sincerely Neo Skr. Guest guest
Dear Seeker, It is true that the ultimate reality is beyond the senses. But we should take heart from Sri Ramakrishna's statement that spiritual practice and brahmacharya leads to the development of the energy meridian called the " medha nadi " which helps us percieve the spiritual truth. We, human beings, are not entirely sensory beings. There are many elements within us that ordinarily lie unexplored. Sadhana helps us hone those elements and go beyond the senses. Sri Ramakrishna did not ask us to practice severe austerities. He asked us to reflect on his life and experiences and practice as much as we can. He wanted us to be aware of the goal and sincerely strive to eradicate ignorance. He promised that he would appear before his devotees at the end of their lifespan and liberate them. Therefore we should not be disheartened. The truth is far off only if we feel that it is far off. We should be like the devotee who declared that God is within us. He said, " hetha, hetha " here..here.. and not " setha, setha, " there...there... Loving Regards, Jagannath. Ramakrishna , Neo Seeker <neo_truth_skr wrote: > > Hello all devotees, > Hope all is well. Guest guest
It is true that the Supreme Reality cannot be understood by any of the sense perceptions or intellect. Through spiritual discipline, one may strive hard to obtain the grace of Lord. But God reveals Himself out of His infinite grace. Guest guest
Dear friend, This is one question that had troubled me too. I also wondered whether my idea of God, soul, and spirituality is also an illusion being in Maya. I have no knowledge of our Hindu scriptures but I realized that on most occasions when I see such contradictions it is because we are mixing two schools of thought. Dualism, qualified monism, and monism are three different philosophies and many times contradict each other. Since all philosophies are respected by us it is sometimes easy to mix them up. Maya is a concept of Advaita and the idea of " perception of God " by its definition takes us away from advaita. Here are some of Swamiji's words on advaita... " You, as body, mind, or soul, are a dream, but what you really are, is Existence, Knowledge, Bliss.... God will only vanish when this world vanishes; then you will become God (Absolute) " " ....but it is impossible for Him to see Himself or know Himself, excepting through reflection. You cannot see your own face except in a mirror, and so the Self cannot see Its own nature until It is reflected " You can see how he talks about even soul and God vanishing because they are part of a dream. The second quote then describes why there is Maya at all. Maya is that mirror. The concept of this absolute God is almost incomprehensible. The entire idea of perception breaks down when we go into a realm where there is nothing relative but only Absolute. Advaita is not easy to follow because for its follower God (personal) really doesn't exist. For them something Absolute exists which if they choose to call God can become confusing for us who don't have a clear idea of that Absolute because we start relating that Absolute God with our idea of God. I hope this helped. This might not be close to truth at all but it is what I understood. Regards, Siddharth
Guest guest
Dear Shrinivasji, You are so very right ! Ramprasad sang, " Oh Mother, if you do not reveal yourself who can know you !! " Sri Ramakrishna talked about the night guard who saw everyone with the lantern. But nobody could see his face. Therefore we should request God to hold the lantern nearer to his face so we can see him. Regards, Jagannath. - In Ramakrishna , " Shrinivas " <drgadhinglajkar wrote: > But God reveals Himself > out of His infinite grace.
