VIJAYAWADA: Following the immense success of its programme of mass singing

of Annamacharya's keertanas that eventually became a Guinness record, The

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has decided to organise another huge event

with the participation of a large number of people.

The programme, to be called " Bhajagovindam " , will be held at Indira Gandhi

Municipal Stadium on May 31. Over 50,000 devotees from Krishna, Guntur and

West Godavari districts are expected to participate.

The TTD will be conducting the event in association through the Hindu Dharma

Prachara Parishad, one of its own wings, and the Krishna district unit of

the Dharmika Salaha Mandali. The programme includes 'Nagara Sankeertana' and

religious discourses. Besides offering 'Veda Aaseervachanam' to all the

participants, the TTD also plans to distribute laddu prasadam, kumkuma of

goddess Padmavathi and spiritual literature to the devotees at the end of

the programme.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Krishna district chairman of

the Dharmika Salaha Mandali Gokaraju Ganga Raju said that a replica of the

sanctum sanctorum of the temple of Sri Venkateswara Swamy on Tirumala would

be created in the stadium for the programme. " Processional deities brought

from Tirumala will be placed in the stadium and special poojas will be

offered on the day. Temple priests, religious scholars and higher officials

of the TTD will take part in this first-of-its-kind programme " he said.

Procession

Mr. Ganga Raju said that the procession would begin at 3 p.m. in which about

10,000 people are expected to take part. Folk artistes would perform bhajans

throughout the procession. " The route map is yet to be prepared, as the

police have some objections to conducting the procession on Mahatma Gandhi

Road. Once the map is prepared, we will make it public through the media " he

said.

The 'Naama Sankeertana Yagnam' would begin at 6 p.m. in which over 50,000

people are expected to participate. " Heads of various peethams will deliver

religious discourses. The programme will be on the lines of 'Annamayya

Sankeertana Yajnam' held recently in the State capital " he said.

Dharmika Salaha Mandali members Yabaluri Lokanadha Sarma, Vemula Hajarataiah

Gupta, D. Vallabha Rao, Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad Administrative

Officer M. Suryanarayana, TTD Information Centre Manager A. Ramachandra Rao

and others were present.
