Guest guest
Sumati Satakam is a part of our Telugu Culture. There is no single Telugu speaking person without knowing at least one poem from Sumati. This Sumati as reputedly composed by Prince Bhadra Bhupala popularly known as Baddena of Chola dynasty of 13th Century A.D. He was a student deciple of reputed poet Tikkana Somayaji, one of the authors of Telugu Maha Bharatam. This Sumati Satakam is one of the earliest Telugu literary works translated into into European languages. Sir Chales Peter Brown, the then Civil Servent in India rendered into English some time in 1840s.All through the centuries,Sumati has been extremely popular with parents and teachers to teach the right conduct and social values to young children. These poems have the musical quality of classical meters that can easily be taken to heart for recitation. The fact that even after 700 years, majority of the poems are refreshingly relavent to modern times speaks volumes about the composition containing the essence of Vedas,Puranas and Itihasas. The teachings of Ramayana and Mahabharata were put in a nutshell in between the lines of this Satakam for personality development and excellence paving path for peace and bliss. On these auspiciou Navaratri days I request you to listen Sumati Satakam. Dasara Navaratri Subhaakankshalu. http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=dr.anjaneyulu%20goli% 20AND%20collection%3Aopensource_audio
