Guest guest
Dear Sri Ravishankar Gopal, Namaste. Bhakti is eternal. All most all your messages are so worthy and more devotional. The present one is regarding Mantras. The clarification is from a great venerable Swamiji and I being an ordinary devotee am incompetent to and dare not to comment on it. But for your message, being an orthodox devotee, I am forced to bring some facts to your notice and also to other members. There is nothing equal to the name “Rama” in this universe. Chanting the Mahamantra once is equal to sahasranamas of Lord Vishnu. His Holiness Paramacharya’s words are still in my mind. He said “There are two powerful 'Taraka Namas'. One is Aum and another is Rama. All mantras have to be prefixed with Aum (Primordial sound) for obtaining the benefits of those mantras, whereas there is no need to prefix Aum when the name 'Rama' is recited because the name itself is 'Taraka Namam " . On all probabilities, the Mahamantra is supreme like Aum, which can be prefixed to all mantras but not to replace puja and mantras. So let us take the preaching of Sri Sri Swamiji in good spirit and continue our puja and Mantras as far as feasible. Regarding the pronunciation, it should be practiced. None is a pundit/ scholar by birth. It should not be considered as genuine difficulty and the clarification need not be saught for, from a Guru, just to minimise our basic efforts. Let us not dispense with the traditional Puja and mantras, since Ramayana itself is the guiding factor for human life. Sreerama never declared himself as God; but gave the guidelines as to how a human should live. He himself chanted Astra mantras and also performed Aswamedhayaga which is a ritual of and emperor. Seethamatha performed Mangalagouri Puja from the beginning to end. Ramayana is the great glorious purana (legend) to the entire humanity. It shows the path to Dharma. Through this Purana, an ordinary person can understand the essence of Vedas and Upanishads. This teaches the dharma to the readers and makes them to live in the full-fledged way in the world. Dharma is in the form of Rama, who is the personification of this Hindu concept of duty and harmony and established a code of conduct, which is widely considered by Hindus, to be the benchmark for posterity. Keeping the above in my mind, I ventured to make out a precised version of Sundarakanda in English format together with some illustrations on Kavya and Kanda and sending the same to the devotional sites, from tomorrow, chanting the Mahamantra all the time. I do not know how far, our friends and devotees regard the same. Yet, it is our bounded duty to see that the younger generation should not renounce the practice of chanting Mantras, Puja and rituals, which will only maintain our Sanatanadharma and fulfill the object of Sri Rama avatar. Srunvan raamakathaanaadam kOnayaati paraam gatim, With love and regards, Sastry ----- Ravishankar Gopal <ravishankar_g wrote: Dear Members, Question: While performing rituals, pujas etc. we are unable to repeat the Mantras which the pundits say.
