Guest guest
In my life I never had considered anybody as my role model. I had admired many, but never had a role model. Same way I had many teachers but considered very few as my gurus. It was in year 1973 that I went to Kancheepuram for the first time for a NCC camp. After the first 10 days or so in the camp, we had been let out only for about a day and on that day many cadets were going to see " periyavaa " or the eldest (Swami Chandrasekharananda). I did not even knew the significance of the " periyavaa " but I also joined the group. From Pachayappa's college where we had laid the camp, the peetham is about 7 kms. As I vaguely remembered, most of us walked the distance as many of us had little money on us after spending for small essentials during the camp time and what was left with us was needed by us to see a latest Sivaji Ganesan's movie. By the time we reached the Peetham it was noon and there was trepidation whether we can see " periyavaa " or not that day. Luckily for us somebody opened a small window and gestured at us to take a peek through that without making any noise and so we did; to see the " periyavaa " huddled in a corner and blessing some fruit, a devotee had sent in, by touching the same in benediction. The serenity of his eyes could not be forgotten by me till date. After a few years he had attained samadhi. Today every month I visit Kancheepuram at least 6-8 times in a month on my office work and have to pass the peetham at least 3-4 times during those trips. But my first and last entry into the peetham had been in 1973. And my first guru had been " him " . Guest guest
Dear Sri Hemantha Kumar, Bhakti is eternal. Your experience and devotion to Guru is touching my heart. I was in Madras since 1957 to 98 and during those days, I had the blessings of Paramacharya several times. HE told several matters, which I get as whisper in my ears even now. I never mentioned the details to any one so far, except those who were with me at that time, since all those words of Guru, I considered them all as secret words. One thing, I would like to request you is to remember that our Guru is there on the peetham as long as the earth exist and make a visit there, under the belief that our beloved Guru is blessing every one even now. If I am going out of my boundaries, kindly excuse me. With love and regards, Sastry. Hemantha Kumar <andhraputhra wrote: In my life I never had considered anybody as my role model.
