Guest guest
Dear friends and devotees, Bhakti is eternal. 18a. Garuda Panchami (Bhadrapada suaddha panchami.) Garuda Panchami is the day of Lord Garuda, the divine eagle believed to be the vahana of Lord Vishnu. This is the day next to Vinayaka Chaturthi. Special abhishekam and Pooja are offered at the sub shrine of Garuda. Garuda (half-bird, half-man) is the winged, bird headed vahana of Vishnu. He is often found kneeling with hands folded before Vishnu’s shrines. Except for large wings which fold out from his shoulders, he is almost always represented as a human. There is a statue of the winged Garuda, exquisitely sculpted in stone near the Kasthamandap, in Kathmandu. Garuda is commonly referred to as Pakshiraja, Vainateya, Suparna, Garukmantha, Periya Tiruvadi, Vinatasuta, Vishnuvahana, Nagantaka and Kashyapeya. Garuda is engaged in eternal service to Lord Narayana at Sri Vaikuntam, whereas Hanuman performed exalted kaimkaryam for Lord Rama only in the Vibhava avataram of Srirama. As a result, of his Sharanagathi to Lord Narayana (Narayana Sayujyam), Garuda enjoys the benefit of Sameepyam (constantly being beside the Lord), Saroopyam (Shuddha Satvam) and Salokyam (residence in Vishnu Lokam). Garuda serves as the eternal chariot of Bhagavan Vishnu. Therefore, this confers upon him the status of " Perumai mikka Stithi " (that which is worthy of great praise). (A collection) With love and regards, Sastry. Never miss a thing. Make your homepage.
