PRIYA BHAGAVAT BANDUVULLARA!

VOICE OF THE RISHIS:67

COURTESY:SHRI RAPARLA JANARADHANA RAO

" PRIDHVEE SASYA SALINEE "

Here is a Vedic verse, praying for the increased productivity of the

earth or the farming land and also praying for the timely seasonal

rains so that man can be benefited by the fruits of earth (Pridhvi),

when it yields food materials, through grains, cereals, fruits etc

(Sasya Salinee).

How great the invocation goes!

1. Kale Varshathu Parjanaha – Let there be timely rains,

2. Pridhvi Sasya Salinee – the earth be full of food giving

plants,

3. Desoyam Kshobha rahito – the country be free from disorders,

4. Braahamana ssantu nirbhaya – let the seeks of truth, the

aspirants live fearless.

5. Aputrah Putrina Ssantu – let the childless, beget children,

6. Putrinassantu Pautrinaha – let parents become grand parents,

7. Adhanaa Ssadhana Ssantu – let the moneyless, become the

monyed,

8. Jeevantu Saradaam Ssantu – may you live for hundred years.

These are the noblest aspirations relating to the aspects of the

growth of food crops in abundance, the fearless social state of

seekers after truth or free thinkers without totalitarian

hindrances, the childless to beget children, parents be grand

parents too, the poor be rich and let people live for hundred years.

This Vedic hymn indicates how pragmatic the approach of the rishis

was and how they had the welfare of the community in all its aspects

in their view.
