Guest guest
Greatness of Prasad or Prasadam by Swami Sivananda Prasadam is that which gives peace. During Kirtan, worship, Puja, Havan and Arati, Badam, Kismis, milk, sweets, fruits, etc., are offered to the Lord. Puja is done by Bael leaves, flowers, Tulasi, Vibhuti, etc., also, and these are given as Prasadam from the Lord. They are charged with mysterious powers by the chanting of Mantras during Puja and Havan. Prasadam is a great purifier. Prasadam is a panacea. Prasadam is a spiritual elixir. Prasadam is the Grace of the Lord. Prasadam is an embodiment of Sakti. Prasadam is divinity in manifestation. Many sincere aspirants get wonderful experiences from Prasadam alone. Many incurable diseases are cured. Prasadam energises, vivifies, invigorates and infuses devotion. It should be taken with great faith. Live for a week in Brindavan, Pandharpur, Banares (Kasi or Varanasi), Rishikesh, Kedarnath, Badrinath, anywhere in Himalayas, etc. You will realise the glory and miraculous effects of Prasadam. Prasadam bestows good health, long life, peace and prosperity on all. Glory to Prasadam, the bestower of peace and bliss. Glory to the Lord of the Prasadam, Giver of immortality and undying happiness. Vibhuti is the Prasadam of Lord Siva, to be applied on the forehead. A small portion can be taken in. Kumkum is the Prasadam of Sri Devi or Sakti, to be applied at the space between the eyebrows (Ajna or Bhrumadhya). Tulasi is the Prasadam of Lord Vishnu, Rama or Krishna. Badam, Kismis, sweets, fruits, etc., are also offered as Prasadam. All these Prasadams are given on all important religious functions. Also kindly read the following, which I noted from the menu card of Radha Madhav (I think, Hare Rama Hare Krishna) Mandir Canteen in Rishikesh, when myself, the moderator of TBP and one more friend were taking our dinner in June 2006, on our way back from Char-Dham Yatra (i.e., Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri and Gangotri): " PRASADAM means benediction or blessings. Whatever we eat shapes our body and on a more subtle level, our thinking. Scriptures inform us of the necessity of offering food to God before we eat. God accepts our offering of love and service and food is transformed into His mercy. Cooked with love and devotion and accepted with faith, the everyday act of eating is transformed into a spiritual prayer. Thus, food becomes empowered with spiritual energy. Our gross senses might not perceive it. Out soul does " Love and Love alone.... P. Gopi Krishna Gopi Krishna <gopi
