My dear friends and like minded persons

Reg: The purpose of writing about Sages and other Indian Ancient

Sciences-SeriesNo.5-Sage Raibhya

Please read the following which is a driving force for me all these

years.

" Poojaa Moolam Gurorpaadam, Moksha Moolam GurorKrupa, Dhyana Moolam

Gurormoorthi, Mantra Moolam Gurorvaakyam " – NA GURORADHIKAM. There

is nothing above Guru and before worshipping even Lord Ganesh, Guru

has to be worshipped. My travel to Himalayan ranges since my

childhood days granted me many opportunities of meeting great sages

who directed me to share the knowledge with others without

anticipating any reward or return. My Srividya Guruji Shri

Ganesaananda Bharati Mahaswamy and my Yagna Guru who made me to

reach a landmark of 485 yaagas including Shri Aswamedhayaagam

(www.ashwamedhayaagam.org) in the country and outside so far in my

life for the welfare of the country and all of you, reiterated that

knowledge should not be sold and therefore all my books are given

FREE OF COST only in spite of several financial constrains so far.

They said " Sa Vipra Paadodaka Kardamaani, Swahaa Swadhaakaara

Nirantarani, Sa Veda Saastra Dhwani Pooritaani, Vaikunthatulyani

Gruhaanitaani " . And I trusted this and I am following the same

order. I wish each house of yours should remain as a Vaikuntha

granting you all peace and happiness. Goddess Mahaalakshmi stays

only in Vaikuntha and therefore knowing and following the vedic

order of life is one such, which can easily grants us all, the

required happiness, peace and prosperity, besides health and wealth.

I spend at least two to three hours a day in composing and passing

on the information thro mails and it is being done for the past

thirty years either manually or thro electronic process. Hundreds

and thousands of articles are written and it is now difficult for me

even to trace my own writings. Therefore I appeal to you to make

use of my effort.

Continuing with the Great Sages of India – series 5, I am writing

about the relevant Sage who dedicated his life only and only to Guru

surrendering all that he had and he is the Great Sage Raibhya. He

was scrupulously following the orders of his Guru and serving him as

a best disciple and this was liked even by Gods. He acquired most

important asset – Obedience and he surrendered to his Master thus

becoming a model for the next generations. When he visited the Deva

Guru Brihaspati, Brihaspati honored him utmost and clarified his

doubts. The sages desired to know whether total elevation is

possible on performing the duties or on acquisition of the

knowledge. This particular point was clarified by Dev Guru to the

Sage Raibhya as one should acquire knowledge to perform the duties

with utmost diligence and care and that only leads to total

elevation. Thus, the great sage Raibhya desired to discharge the

parental debt and he got married. He was blessed with two sons who

are named as Aarvavasuvu and Paraavasuvu. Both of his sons were his

disciples and both of them were given the best Vedic education.

The Sage Raibhya was residing close to the ashram of Sage

Bharadwaja. Bharadwaja's son was Yavakreeta. Yavakreeta was jealous

of the sons of Sage Raibhya. He desired to excel himself and thus

performed tapas to please Indra. Indra appeared before him and

clarified that education from a Guru makes any one fruitful and

successful. But then, Yavakreeta was not interested to perform

Susrusha for long time to any one to acquire knowledge. Therefore

he was after Indra and ultimately acquired education without a

Guru. He was thinking great of himself and behaving accordingly.

One day he went to the Ashram of Sage Raibhya and saw the wife of

Paraavasuvu. Sage Raibhya was informed of all this and the sage

generated a demon to kill Yavakreeta which accordingly did. Sage

Bharadwaja with a grief on seeing the dead body of his son, he too

gave up his life.

At that time, Aarvaavasu and Paraavasu were engaged in performing a

Satra yaaga for King Bruhadyumna. While returning home Paraavasu

during a night time, to save his life from an animal, Paraavasu

threw a weapon which incidentally hit Sage Raibhya and Sage Raibhya

dead instantly. In the meantime, Gods were pleased with the

behavior of Aarvaavasu and asked him to request for a boon.

Aarvaavasu requested for rebirth of Sage Bharadwaja, Sage Raibhya

and Yavakreeta and Yavakreeta be purified of his jealous nature and

egoism. SINCE ARVAAVASU ACQUIRED EDUCATION THROUGH GURU, Gods

blessed him and clarified that serving a master itself is sufficient

for glorification.

Sage Raibhya there afterwards went on pilgrimage and visited

Srirangam, Varadaraja of Kanchi, Lord Venkateswara of Tirumala,

Ahobalendra, Simhaachaleesa, Srikurmapathi, Prayaag, and finally to

discharge the parental debt visited Gaya . Sanatkumaara was pleased

with the deeds of Sage Raibhya and he gave his mighty and great form

appearance to the Sage. Helping the society and less fortunate, Sage

Raibhya ultimately reached Brahmaloka.

FROM THE HISTORY OF THIS GREAT SAGE, IT IS CLEAR THAT A DISCIPLE AND

HIS VIDYA FLORISHES WITH THE BLESSINGS OF MASTER AND OBIDIENCE IS

THE MOTHER OF FORTUNE.

I shall be back again soon with the history of a great sage of

India . Yours affly HARA HARA MAHADEVA DR P V SESHA SAI

ASWAMEDHAYAAJI
