Dear Raghav,

Sai Ram. The devotee, the Idol of the Deity and the

Prasadam are all aspects of One. This is very well

brought out in Sri Vishnu Sahasra Nama Stotram (Yagno,

Yagnapatir Yajva, Yagnango, Yagnavahanah, Yagnabhrut,

Anna mannada mevacha.. all are Vishnu, who is all

pervading) and also in Isa Vasyopanishad. Pl. see Sai

Satcharita, Chapter 20 (How Dasganu's problem was

solved...).

Who gets doubts? Only Who feels separate, i.e who has

an unripe ego (most of us!). By offering to God, that

which we want to enjoy, we are gently nudged onwards

on the path of purity (we don't offer Him/Her rotten

food do we?). But suppose a small innocent child

offers a part of what is given it to its mother, will

the mother refuse? I think not. So, what is offered

with true love is accepted by God, as clearly

explained in Gita (Patram, Pushpam, Phalam, Toyam,...)

and in Sri Kalahasti Mahatyam (the story of Bhakta

Kannappa) when Lord Siva offers the meat and Uchhishta

of Tinna (he holds water in his mouth and then

sprinkles it on the Linga as Abhishek). The story of

Bhakta Sabari who offers fruits after tasting them to

Rama is another example. In true love, there is no

giver, taker and given.

So, my submission is that till we become one with Him,

we do need to worship, offer naivedyam etc. By the

way, what we offer to God is Naivedyam and what we

receive from Him is His Prasadam.

With love,

Swamy
