Balasubramanian <gbsub1Mon, Mar 16, 2009 at 5:40 PM IMPORTANCE OF NAMASANKEERTAN-5SBOI Group <, , saibabadivine , saigroup_borivali_samithi , saibabanews , SAI RAMs, While talking about the importance of Namasnkeertanam, Srimad Bhagawatam says, Tapas(penance) in Threta Yyugam,Yagnyam (sacrifice)in Dwapara yugam and Sankeertanam in Kaliyugam have been prescribed as Yuga Dharma(Dhyanam krute yagnam thretayaam kalau sankeertya Kesavam......). In practising Dhyana one has to cross several stages like Yama,NiyamaAsana,Pranayama,Pratyahara,Dharana,Dhyana until one reachesSamadhi. Each of these is very difficult to perform and master. The performance of Yagyam or rituals calls for several considerations like the suitability of place where these are being performed, at which time it is to be done, source of moneywhich is used and how it has been acquired, the priests who are conducting the ritual, their ability to chant the Mantras correctly etc. etc. However, as for Namsankeertan is concerned, there are no prescriptions/conditions of time, place, money/resourcesetc. etc. Any one with a longing for God and with pure mind can render Namsankeertan with a sense of intense Love for and devotion to God(Bhakti). In fact there is nothing to be done except remembering Him all the time with Love. Even if a Devotee is unable to offer something to God, the Lord has declared in the Gita that he would lovingly accept anything-be it a leaf,flower,water,fruit....when offered with full devotion(Patram pushpam phalam toyam yo me bhaktya prayachhati tadaham bhaktyupahrutam asnaami prayataatmanah --sloka 26 Chapter 9)by an earnest devotee. He also advises us to dedicate unreservedly all actions performed by us to Him(Yat karoshi tadasnaati yajjohoshi dadaasi yattapasyasi Kaunteya tat kurushva Madarpanam ---sloka 27 Chapter 9. " A devotee who fixes his mind on Me ,give his devotion to Me make obeissance to Me and surrender all actions to Me and is fully absorbed in My Thoughts with full faith and make Me as his Goal indeed comes to Me " , declares the Lord( Manmanaa Bhava Madbhakto Madyaaji Maam Namaskuru Mamevaishyati yuktvaivaatmanam matparayanah (Gita 9.34). Now, as Sai Devotees let us do a self-audit whether by participating in Sai Bhajan Sessions alone are we going to render ourselves eligible to be the recipient of the promises made by the Lord in Gita in the above-mentioned slokas? Pl. think for a while. (to be continued) G.Balasubramanian
