What

all Sadhakas (spiritual aspirants) have to do is this: first, Viveka is

to be developed, that is to say, the capacity to distinguish between

the eternal and the transitory, and to decide which is worthy. Second,

a sincere attempt has to be made to experience what is chosen as worthy

and true. Third, that effort should not be given up, whatever be the

obstacles that come in the way. These three constitute genuine Tapas

(penance). From this Tapas alone, real Shanti (peace) and Ananda (joy)

is born.
